sounds like your charging system is weak . Is your scooter the one with the weak charging system ? what happens when the cooling fan goes on ? I know you have had this scooter a while . I don't know the details . John Nope, that's Ellpee (me). Which is not to say there may not be others out there with the same problem .... Richard has a 250cc . John

You have it a little backwards , some stators come with a coil to power ac cdi's . The scooters that have dc cdi do not have a power supply coil in the stator to power the cdi , in that case . The cdi gets power from the battery . Your behind the 8ball You started With dc cdi .
I had a scooter that had an ac cdi , It would not start I did not have power from the stator . I then took a dc cdi and plugged in I fed 12vdc to the power wire and was able to get it started .
So your the reverse you do not have a power lead from the stator to power an ac cdi .

Put a volt meter on it and see whst the voltage drops to when cranking .
Just to rule out the stator I would check acv output while idling and at 5000 rpm .

Heck, I'd love to take a completed wire modded scoot. & copy the wire-harness with mods, upgrade to better water-proof connectors, thicker gauge wire, a fuse block, separate the basic engine-sys & Lighting/Accessory sys. wiring, finishing up into sleek clean wire harness. In other words, a better, built from scratch, & simplified harnesses. _ I make add ons as I go . John
