Need to pull the plug, check for spark, if it's good then as you've been told the valves have got to be adjusted.

Slightly off thread, but what's a pulse coil? Is is the coil that I know from cars back in the days of my youth, i.e., boosts voltage high enough to create a spark at the plug electrode? If I traced back down my plug wire, would the other end plug into the pulse coil? Just looking for more general knowledge here. Pulse coil as some call it = trigger coil which of course sends the signal to the CDI of when to fire.

Sometimes the clutches are very difficult to squeeze open but if it's running ok then the most I would do is give it a good blowing out with a air hose cleaning. If need be you may have to pull it apart later on and give it a tiny touch of grease on the shaft.

Is it to benefit the AC side or the DC side of the electrical system? Both? Pro's vs Con's? No benefit at all to the AC side? With a 11 pole stator there is no AC side except to the CDI. That doesn't change. No cons just pros, better charging system, allows more accessories and system is all DC electrically and I've summed it all up in one post.
The 11 pole stator is 3-phase with 3 wires and a ground going to the R/R and the pulse coil wire along with one wire from the single coil that feeds AC to the CDI, other than that all DC.

You test the pulse signal wire red/white using the AC setting on the meter, not DC. It should have very little voltage as low as 0.5 volts to 2.5 volts.
The scooter dying with no spark after it gets hot is the classic CDI heating up and cutting out. Once it cools it works again. Actually new a guy once that got out and had this happen and he stopped at a café and got a small bag of ice and wrapped it and made it home! LOL
