Ok, just asking because I like to know others thoughts on stuff like this. & it's good to listen to the reasons why. For the sole purpose to gain knowlage, & have a better perspective on it. — ~ What grade of fuel do you use, why, & what fuel treatment you use if any? ~ ——— Ok I'm currently riding a 49.5cc Scoot.
I myself use #89 octane because I due a lot of WOT riding on stock engine with no issues so far. Plus I get good mileage.
(Yeah, I know WOT is hard on these small suckers, but when it's the only ride you got. One has to make due. & it is a true workhorse. A lot of WOT riding, & occasionally haul heavy loads 80-150 Lbs. extra weight on top of my 210-Lbs. butt. & try to monitor the fluids, tire pressure/wear & general heath of the engine.)
As for fuel treatment, my fav' is Seafoam & Sta'bil. But I also had good luck with Marvels-Mystery-Oil, STP's copy of Seafoam, & Lucas ethanol fuel treatment with stabilizers. ( been testing the Lucas stuff & it's been doing ok so far.)
Anyone else? _

Amazes me that I never read here about anybody using StarTron additive, even though it has great reviews.

I've also heard they perform all around better on 86-97. But mine does better on the 89, due that I do so much WOT. How's your MPG vs. performance? Is the scoot stock, what CC? _

i was told ,they were saying 93 octane but that was the chinese grade gas its not as good ,91 ,but not all stations have it ,a lot of guys are using 87 ,I guess between 89 91 ,only a high performance engine needs 93,they say run it instead of dry gas in winter few tanks is good for getting water out ,as long as its not there gas I would say anything will work

I drive 2011 250cc jonway, I use prem gas, that's what my son and the dealer said to use, I drive it only for work, I get over 130, not really sure how much exactly, afraid to run out so I fill it after so many days of riding, my 49 "rutcus" used the same gas, 120mph... I havnt use an additive cuz I don't know what I can if any use, and what's WOT?

Question: You mean 130 mpg and 120 mpg, not mph, right?(mpg= miles per gallon, mph= miles per hour.) I use 89octane in all my scoots and use Stabil additive. WOT=wide open throttle. Hope this helps.

Surprised to hear so many using higher octane fuel out there. Even though most scoots would run fine on 86-88 octane.
The higher the octane number the longer time (Milliseconds) it takes to ignite/burn.
So I would have to guess a lot of folks here are running their scoots at high throddle alot more than say 1/4 or 1/2 throddle. That & these scoots do tend to run higher compression rates than some other vehicles such as the standerd car.
Would love to hear more on what fuel treatments are being used & what they do for one. _

Guess I forgot to hit "post" yesterday. I started out using premium, per my almost-English user manual, but then did some on line research and found that US regular is fine -- China and some other countries use an entirely different numbering system. I do, however, use premium in my Magnum up in the mountains, where the high altitude (7000' plus) already costs me a lot of horsepower. Difference is only a quarter or so per tank, so what the hey?

i guess it does not matter what octane we use ,though I would say there wanting us to use lower octanes couse ellpees probley right no he is right they use junk gas in asia china ,I got to admit though I been using 93 octane in my lawn mower for 10 years now an weed eater blower little 6hp motor ,my dealer said higher octane runs hotter an can couse piston failure ,I am not sure I buy it ,though I will try 89,an we have winter an summer gas hear to ,I guess is does not matter other then puting addatives in ,I heard 93 lives longer then 87 in storage an realy most addatives are alcohol so realy its just if one wants to save few cents ,when I can run lawn mower for 10 years on 93 theres the proof it does not matter 150.00 weedeater walmart deal I never changed the oil just added some , :Dso every now an then I put my foot in my mouth too,but i relize what I been doing for along time

91-93. Better safe than sorry, detonation can kill a motor quickly. Small high revving engines with advanced timing/perfomance CDI needs as big of a safety net as you can provide.

Funny thing, I ran a 3.5 Hp Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine on Colman camping fuel once. It ran a little better than when on 87-Octane. Strange, I know… Concedering that camping fuel is about 50-55 Octane.
But @ over $10 a Gal. it's too expensive to continue doing. _
