Hey Texan how are you? I know you went with the H4 connectors, but can you remember if the BA20D connectors you removed were metal or metal encased in plastic? Happy to hear you have not had any heat related problems. I know how hot it is in TX.

I know my sockets are metal because I've changed my headlights from 35W incandescent to 45W, and then back to 35W when the 45s burned out after only a few weeks!@

Trail, my scooter actually came with 25 w headlights so I went to 45w last september. Since then they lasted to a week ago but only the low beam burnt out on 1 of them. I just didn't remember what the sockets looked like.
Today will be a test as I'm putting in 50 55w halogens, which fit the BA20 socket

Speed; I can't remember what they were. They are still attached to the wiring harness and just hanging under the front cowl.

speed, after you've installed those lights, I'd take a minute to measure the battery voltage while the scooter is running. From what I understand you want it to be north of 13V or so, otherwise you may not be charging the battery because there is too big a load being drawn from those powerful lights. you don't want to get stuck far from home.

They are all metal and no plastic around them. Just finished installing them. I left the rubber boots off just for extra cooling. They sure bright to say the least. A nice bright white with a tint of blue. I took it out for a short 10 mile run and felt the lens covers. They are no warmer then the previous bulbs. Now only time will tell if I have an issue. I am anxious to try them tonight.

OK, I installed my new headlights and took pictures of them. First is low beam and the second is high beam. If you look at my avatar picture on bottom it shows my old 45W 445W headlights on low beam.

Well those are certainly bright!! How's the heat?
I'd love to try those out, but unfortunately my charging system just isn't up to the task during the summer when the fan's always running. I'm just holding steady with my 35w bulbs w/fan on.

Yoster, the heat so far is not an issue. The lens covers are not much warmer then with the OEM's. I have the Linhai engine and no cooling problems at all. It's mid 90's every day here in SC and fan rarely comes on. I did pull scooter in garage and let it run long enough till the fan came on and the lights did dim a bit. This is only day 3 for me and the new lights so anything can go wrong, but I have run over a 100 miles with them.

Just an update it's been 8 days since I installed the new and much brighter 50 w xenon bulbs and so far not a problem. The lens is not hot to touch and still clear and no damage to the sockets. I know I've put several hundred miles on them since the install so I am very pleased with the outcome. On low beam at night I have cars flash me. Now that's a first.

Great find Speedracer and do you happen to still have the packages and manufacturer of those bulbs? reason I ask is we all know Ebay links disappear in 90 days if the product is not active or bid on and if they do disappear then with the name, model# etc. we may can always find them at a latter date.

So far I have put on 1100 miles on the 50/55w Halogen bulbs I purchased on Ebay using the same BA 20D socket. I can say there has been no damage to the lens covers or from any access heat the bulbs may be putting out. The lights are bright and have made a major difference when driving at night.
