I just can't help myself LOL well i really wish and pray that the chinese's will improve the quality of their scooters and ALL the products that are chinese... in these hard times people still want to buy cheaper scoot that fit their budget. but its been 40 years now they still didnt improve, i dunno whats preventing them(chinese people) from making quality products, i dont think its monetary because china as a whole is a very progressive country now, i think it's their mentality, values, PROFIT the the only thing in their minds. and as a theory, mass production of anything jeopardizes the quality. if kz will agree with me, i promise to drop this chinese scooter issue and never mention it again. Would love to know where you get your stats? "40 years now and still didn't improve". I have seen lots of improvements in just the last 5 years. Did you own a chinese scooter 40years ago? I will renew my questions to you again and see if maybe you will answer them this time How Long have you been a mechanic? Auto? Truck? Motorcycle? Scooter? How long have you made your living with the above? What kind of different manufacturers/distributors have you dealt with and repaired or sold their machines? How long have you been a motor vehicle dealer? What brands? Read more: scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=8163&page=2#ixzz2aRb0j7AuAnd the comment you made comparing me to a drug dealer is still an issue with me! Jim

You are partially correct. There are a few things where Chinese manufacturers tend to skimp on like screws and wiring connections (this applies to everything from scooters to UTVs) but to say that they have not improved in the last 40 years is a negligent comment. Yes there are several manufacturers from china who simply don't care, but it's not fair to associate honest Chinese companies who have invested untold amounts of money to bring warehouses, parts, dealers with everyone else. So just because it's not Honda it's not good? That sounds like the people in the 60's and 70's when they were bashing Japanese manufacturers left and right just because they were not the big boys in the neighborhood. It's fun to jump to the "china scooters/ATVs/UTVs suck" bandwagon but at the end people will embrace them, just ask Hyundai.

Go to the end of any assembly line and see the results, even in Japan. Any bike will malfunction, that's why they check them. You're just being unreasonable Luke. People here are having great success with their China scoots, 40,000 miles on Automotoguy's Baccio and 35,000 on the Automoto. My 50cc bike has gone Interstate, in addition to a few long rides and been trouble free for four years.
You still haven't answered Jim.

While I admit to being a fan of Taiwanese scooters I have to admit that Ice Bear has improved their line over the past five years. My riding pal has a small scoot business and the Ice Bear scooters he has been bring in show a great improvement in quality. Cant say any thing about the trike as he does not sell them. But it would seem logical that if the scoots have improved the trikes will have also. It has always been my contention that the Chinese can improve the product if there is a demand for better quality in that product. Does any body remember when the first Japanese cars were imported and every one considered them to be sub par?? Today quality wise and design wise they dominate the American market. declare

Today quality wise and design wise they dominate the American market. declare That's the exact same point I make earlier. I remember when Hyundai was building Excels with cloned Mitsubishi engines, sheet metal that could dent if you farted straight into it at ridiculously low prices. Yes they sucked but then they improved greatly when they made the Accent in 95' and continued to improve as the years went by. Now look at them, they make the best looking cars with top notch fit and finish that even American manufacturers are still lacking. At this point I think it's a waste of my time to reason with Luke. I have enough experience to confidently say that Chinese scooters are not exactly top shelf but the big buys should not be put in a pedestal either. For those with thirst for knowledge google "Can-Am Cracked Frames", Arctic Cat Bevel Gear", "Honda Reflex Fuel Pump"(They are EXPENSIVE)

I have the MC-54-250B Roketa scooter and now over 18,000 mile, that's not too bad for a chinese scooter But I will say it takes some maintenance to keep them going.

18,000!!! Way to go. It won't be long before most Chinese scooter stories start with, "I just turned 30,000 and it's running like a Swiss Watch."
