Ok we will assume it is timed right. BUT HAVE YOUR TRIED THIS: DO THIS, IF YOU HAVE SPARK IT WILL FIRE or IT WILL ATTEMPT TO FIRE AT LEAST ONCE: Look at the picture TAKE THE VACUUM HOSE OFF WHEREVER it is connect to. Get a paper or plastic cup put a TINY BIT OF GAS in the CUP then SQUEEZE the cup to make a point and POUR the tiny bit into the HOSE, stick the hose back on wherever it was connected and try to start it. I'll take the picture on Sunday. Yes or NO....if there's a spark at the plug when starting, does that mean I didn't crack the magneto magnets when I banged on the cover to remove it?

YES AND NO because the Flywheel has about 8 Magnets spaced out around the Flywheel. So you could of damaged some magnets. But if your getting Spark it should start and run it maybe that some of the lights and gauges may not work. Now you TELL ME ""YES OR NO" if you tried what I said to try pouring a little gas down the INTAKE MANIFOLD. Because that will cause the motor to fire IF it is getting spark. Alleyoop

ok the chain looked lose and that was what i was concerned about has the motor run any after you put the new stator in if not i think you lost the flywheel key and the trigger manget is out of time

The motor hasn't run after I put the new stator in. However, per the initial post, it suddenly stopped starting BEFORE any new parts (except, battery, plug and solenoid), were installed.

Some of the 'extras' not associated with the starting or running of the motor did not function when I bought the fixer-upper, but it ran like a charm via kick-start up to the point when I used the pistion stop(refer to initial post). E.g. the speedometer didn't work but I bought a new one on Ebay...the turn signals didn't work until I installed the new ignition etc. the kill switch and starter button still do not work but the starter(not new) works fine.

Ok if there are no letter "T" or "F" but only TWO lines then it appears you have it lined up. So try squirting gas directly into the INTAKE through the VACUUM HOSE on the INTAKE MANIFOLD. Like I said if it has compression and the plug is Sparking IT WILL FIRE or ATTEMPT TO FIRE. If it does then the problem is NO FUEL is being sucked into the motor. I already tried pouring a little gas into the intake manifold when it was suggested before.

I already tried pouring a little gas into the intake manifold when it was suggested before. You never mentioned that, SO DID IT ATTEMPT TO FIRE OR NOT? If it did not then the SPARK PLUG IS NOT FIREING IT WOULD FIRE EVEN IF THE TIMEING WAS A LITTLE OFF. Are you sure you have a GROUND WIRE ATTACHED TO THE VALVE COVER and going to the FRAME? Alleyoop

It's just been the sound of the starter winding with no fuel igniting throughout the quest.

Well I have to say that you are NOT GETTING SPARK, or a very weak spark. Crank the sucker and take a look at the PLUG and take a picture of the PLUG. If it is DRY no fuel, if it is WET no spark or weak spark. Alleyoop

I tried pouring fuel, about 2 tablespoons down the vacuum tube with no success... when trying to start, I used the gas that was pumped via the filter tube...into a small container...it drips...is that the way it's supposed to be?...also, I retested for a spark and there is one...it can't be said to be blinding but it's not a noticeably faint spark either.

After trying the vacuum tube method again, I hurried to remove the plug to see if it was wet before the fuel evaporated...it wasn't noticeably wet but did smell of fuel.

Would pouring gas into the spark plug hole be a better test than the vacuum tube method?

Well 2 tablespoons is quite a lot and you probably flooded the shit out of it with that. But anyway you can try with a TEASPOON of fuel down the Plug Hole. But you see what I mean with gas in the chamber and if the Spark Plug fires YOU WILL GET SOME KIND OF an explosion.
**** Just asking but when you put the NEW STATOR on and the FLYWHEEL DID YOU PUT THE WOODRUFF KEY in the SHAFT TO HOLD THE FLYWHEEL IN POSITION? ****
**** ALSO Have you ADJUSTED the VALVES? ****
I do not know what else to tell you can get a VIDEO of the SPARK PLUG FIREING. If you have FUEL, SPARK, COMPRESSION it will fire.
