Is there a way for a 'layman' to put the kickstand spring back onto a scooter if it gets stuck on something while being moved and comes off?

So long as the diagnostic limits of the starting problem have been reached, I'll defer to the mechanics here with vital signs allowing time to SP for upgrading its knowledge base. Thanks

OK, so I'm a skimmer in in the excess verbiage, but what about my ongoing problem with starting?

[replyingto=doyso]doyso[/replyingto]The people on Maui are clueless. The valves are adjusted and the timing was worked on and it runs great. However, the sporadic difficulty with starting hasn't been fixed. I s there anything besides e.g. valves or whatever has already been mentioned that would cause: After sitting over night, it starts but not right away e.g. after 6 tries....I drive 10 miles, shut off for two minutes then try to start and it starts right away....I drive one block, shut off for a few minutes, then the third time, it won't start at all. Any problem would have to take into account the fact that the gas recedes?...along with the lack of consistency...sometimes it happens differently.

Boobie trapped once again by an omitted little piece of information. During the mathematics of putting e.g. the .04 and .03 together, it was not mentioned that .003 equals 0.08mm and .004 equals 0.10mm. Upon purchasing the correct gauge at NAPA, both values appear on each gradation revealing that I had the correct sizes all along.

One out of two ain't bad. About the valve diagnosis: Since it is on warranty, I took it to the seller's mechanic and he adjusted the valves but didn't know the correct gap because he didn't use a gauge to do it, but guessed instead. I didn't know we could do that. No more drag. About the difficulty starting: Turns out, there was dirt in the carb and a spark plug with carbon build up already. Now it starts right up and runs better than ever.

I have a set .002-1.00mm coming from Ebay on Thursday. Are there 2 gauges in my .02-1.00mm set that is a temporary fix that's better than the valve position I have now? They're floppy strips of metal so two of them anywhere in the set can be paired for a temp fix. If not, I'll wait til Thursday and use the suggested .003 and .004.

Cruiser says Alleyoop is incorrect. Are there any other 2 gauges I can put together to get the right size?

Your answer is too complicated. The math means nothing to me because I'm just a "sophmore." I have a set of gauges(slices of thin metal) that fold out, range: .02-1mm. I adjusted the valves to .05 like the guy on youtube said to and it didn't make any difference. It still takess a long time to start and it drags up and downhill and on flat as if I am applying the brakes on and off.

I don't have .003 or .004. I have 0.03, 0.30 and 0.04 and 0.40.

No...I don't know anything about RPM's. 800K means that's how many miles are on it...it's a fairly new scooter. I don't know why the valves would all of a sudden be too tight at 800K. also, it's not a constant drag, but sporadic.

It starting the drag thing at about 800K. The starting problem is from when it was new. If I wait and start walking up the road with it, it will surprise me every time and start up...but it takes much longer than it usually does. It happens sometimes and sometimes not...which makes it even more of a problem.
