Where is the flywheel and what must be done when I locate it and have the tools? Also, considering the provided info, e.g. my finger was blown out of the plug hole and there is a spark at the plug, are there any possibilities remaining other than the flywheel one?

Now I know what the flywheel is...I removed it to put in the new magneto or whatever. I used the tools I have. Also, the force that can be applied with an adjustable crescent wrench( I don't have the correct socket size) doesn't seem to be enough to do the damage that has been suggested... e.g. there is not enough damage to the piston to affect compression.

OK do you have a camera if so setup an account with photo bucket so you can post some pics. did you use a hammer to hit the flywheel when you had it off before if so you could have damage the magnets in it or you could have lost the flywheel key that aligns the flywheel if so it will be out of time and not start

Ok DO THIS, IF YOU HAVE SPARK IT WILL FIRE or IT WILL ATTEMPT TO FIRE AT LEAST ONCE: Look at the picture TAKE THE VACUUM HOSE OFF WHEREVER it is connect to. Get a paper or plastic cup put a TINY BIT OF GAS in the CUP then SQUEEZE the cup to make a point and POUR the tiny bit into the HOSE, stick the hose back on wherever it was connected and try to start it. Alleyoop Did you do this? This will tell a LOT: But I really think it is time for some pictures. Here is what you should do: 1. Take the VALVE COVER OFF and either rotate the FLYWHEEL CLOCKWISE or use the VARIATOR(COUNTER CLOCKWISE) and align the CAM SPROCKET LIKE THIS AND TAKE A PICTURE: THEN DO NOT TURN THE MOTOR OVER OR ANYTHING DO NO 2. That will tell if something is wrong with the timing. 2. Then Take the Plastic Cover OFF the FLYWHEEL and Take a PICTURE of where the timing MARK IS POINTING at on the FLYWHEEL Like this: If you do not know how to post pictures email them to me and I will put them up for you: I will PM my email address so check you messages on top: Alleyoop

I registered at PhotoBucket but don't know how to relate it to this site. I'll take the pictures and download them to my computer first. There's a time frame issue to consider. Per the initial post, it was running and the next day I unsuccessfully attempted to remove the bolt on the variator via a piston stop etc. It didn't start from then on which was BEFORE I installed the new parts except the battery and new plug. That means now we may be dealing with the original problem plus problems that resulted from e.g. the installation of the new magneto coil etc. Yes, I did bang on the magnet cover with a hammer. I checked with Ebay and they have one so lesson learned if magnets are cracked. The pictures will reveal something.

I took the pictures but they are a little more blurry than yours. I didn't see the 'customize your upload' option on the upload page on PhotoBucket. If I use the "insert" option where the forum message box is, that will be the wrong resolution?

Thanks Doyso, I got them and yes the FLywheel is very blurry the CAM SPROCKET is right on that is good. I labeled the FLYWHEEL one and pointed to where it looks like that is the "T" mark correct me If I am wrong. Alleyoop FLYWHEEL Timing Marks: CAM SPROCKET ALIGNED:

The top one doesn't look like a 'T.' There is no line crossing the top. What do the letters stand for? It looks like an L or a U with the right side worn off. Are all the letters of the alphabet on the wheel?

Yes, normally you will see a T and a F, maybe you can take a picture from a little further away so it is not so blurry Or if you see the T letter and or F letter need to know where either one of those letters are in the picture. Alleyoop

Neither of them is a T or F. The bottom one is definitely an l. I turned the wheel and there is no T, F or any other letter on the rest of it.

DAMN, Ok take a picture of it from a little further away There should be a Little SQUARE BLACK box with wires RIGHT ABOVE the Flywheel(that will be the PICK UP COIL) and the FLywheel usually has a MAGNET sticking out a little on the FLYWHEEL , Need to see that and the Flywheel. You could be 1 or two links off on the chain that is what I am trying to determine. Alleyoop

My wheel looked like it was in the same position as yours in relation to the letters even though they are different.
