I have a 54B...It ran great a month ago...3weeks ago I took it apart to do some work on the swingarm bushings..After putting it back together & taking it for a ride,it now loses power at 55-65 mph...I have cleaned the air filter, replaced the coil, cleaned carb, the spark plug looks like it did the day I installed it...I also replace the fuel filter...I have pulled the carb off twice & cleaned it..still losing power...I hope someone can help me here...Thanks Bob This is really passing me off that nothing seems to work,no matter what I try....I hope someone can come up with a fix...PLEASE Update..looked to be a crack in the airbox where it meets the tube that goes to the carb...So I siliconed it..just took it out for a ride & when you get going 55-65 for a strech it falls flat on its face...the motor just loses all power, but don't stall, when you come to a stop it idles fine 1800rpm's....there is not or sputtering, just flat,

Bob, When you say its losing power, my scoot was losing power at that speed also, in my case it was the cdi, it would jerk and the rpm's would start falling and acting like I was running out of gas, if I let up on the throddle it would regain power. sometimes it would stall out.

I know it's not the cdi,I switch it out from another scoot of the same model.....I just tore the carb & intake off & ran a bead of silicone around the oring on the intake & the spacer between the intake & engine...I check the airbox for cracks & look to have one between the box & the pipe that goes to carb,so I ran silicone over that area....Now,it's loses power at the same speed 55-65 & yes the rpm's drop...now when you stop to get power back it stalls, before it would idle ok....it still idles ok,once you restart it.....I'm going to adjust the a/f mixture...seems to be running lean now...Bob

I know it may be a long shot but I have been having a lot of the same issue as you. I know it just started for you. but have you by chance checked the Diaphram in the carb by chance. Could be small pin holes.

Yes I have....didn't see anything, with the naked eye...how would you find a pin hole??? this scoot ran great a month ago..I then tore it down to do some work on the swingarm bushings..Then put it back together & on the first ride,it starts doing this.....I did have the airbox off to work on swingarm bushings....

Good idea damin69, Bob, when you had the carb off, did you check the float? Might need adjusted.

I had one that looked good I held it up to the light and just pulled out a bit all the way around the edges and that explosed the little pin holes the light shines through. Believe me I know these CHINO Scoots can be the most frustrating things around. I am suprised I have any hair left on my head.

Bob, make sure that diaphram is in the right place, I was adjusting the needle jet, put together and when I test drove the scoot no power, had to take out and put in again, there is a notch for the one part of that diapham to go into place.

Sorry Bob, just trying to help. I did read somewhere that a guy was having problems with his scoot different speeds, it turned out to be a roller or slider out of place in his variator.
