Hello Bob Welcome to the forum! Sounds like she is giving you fits for sure and here's something I want you to do. It appears there is a manufacturing or design issue in the plastic that clamps the vacuum diaphragm which lifts the needle up to allow more gas to flow. There are two plastic pieces that snap together that "sandwich" the diaphragm to seal the low pressure side (top of diaphragm) and the high pressure side (bottom of diaphragm). Over time, this loosens up and the seal is compromised allowing the air to pass from lower side to the top side, causing a lower differential in pressure and not lifting the needle as much as it used to. What I did was use Ultra Blue RTV silicone from an auto parts store and coated where the two pieces are locking together (looks kind of like a toothed zigzag pattern). This is on the top side of the diaphragm, around the outside of the hole that the spring goes into it. After doing this, I got the same, or even better performance than when new. It has more power left in the throttle, but if I go full throttle, it is still gaining speed at 70 mph, but it runs very efficient with lots of power to accelerate. Also make sure the needle is not sticking. JR

Ok,Thanks J.R... so do I take the plastic pieces apart or just apply silicone to them??? If this don't work,do you think it could need the valves adjusted?? I adjusted them about 2000 miles ago...

I'm cool I didn't take it the wrong way. I know how you feel, I had my scoot apart more times then I can count, it took me over 6 months of work to find the problem, that stupid cdi, my list looks just like yours.

i would check the vac lines sounds like when you are at speed they are collapsing cutting off the fuel if they are real soft i would replace all the vac and fuel lines

all fuel & vac lines were replaced with goodyear hoses..I did a full pdi on this scoot when it was new... Well,J.R. It didn't work...I cleaned the carb yesterday & turned the a/f mixture screw out only 2 turns...I'm going to turn it out another 1/2 turn & see what happens...I'm running out of things to check or do.....

well,I turned out the a/f mixture screw another half turn & still the samething...it just falls flat on it's face at 55-65 mph (if you know what I mean)...it stalls when I pull over to get power back, but starts right back up & idles fine....So,do you guys think it's in my carb??? It really feels like it's starving for gas,but what else can I try?

Try sealing the Diaphgram or get a new one, sure sounds like once it builds up pressure at full throttle it leaks and the needle will start to drop and since you have the BUTTERFLY wide open it is sucking in to much air and not enough fuel. Alleyoop

alleyoop, you mean sealing it like J.R. said, I already did that with no luck...??where would I order just the diaphram from??? I found a whole rebuild kit... Now how positive are you about this being the problem...I don't mind ordering parts, but i've ordered parts that don't seem to be the problem...Whats funny it ran fine before I tore it down to replace some swingarm bushings...I hope to god I can get it fixed with out taking it to a shop.....Bob

Well Bob, If it ran find up until you replaced the swignarm bushings I WOULD then look around there for any Electrical wireing that may be getting pinched or wire that may have come loose and not tight and or something to close to the muffler getting hot or a bare wire grounding out or something. I have check everything...I can not find anything...I've been working on this problem for 2 weeks & have look at & try everything....The second time I pulled off the carb the main jet was atleast 1/2 plug with somekind of junk...I thought that would have fixed it,but it didn't...thought maybe it was the coil, but nope....I have looked & looked & can't see or find anything out of place or unhooked,or to close to exhaust to melt off the insulation....I idles & runs great until your up to 55-65 for a 1/2 mile streach, then it falls flat on it's face....Bob

the fuel pump is a mr gasket 42s..1-3 psi...It's been on the scoot for 4 years, since I did the pdi..I did eliminate the vac hose going to the old fuel pump.....The scooter has 8500 miles on it..I'm sure it's in the carb to....I hope a new carb would fix the problem....Bob
