HELLO EVERYONE!! I.M HAVING TROUBLE WITH A SHAKING ON TAKE OFF. I TOOK THE CLUTCH OUT AND SANDED THE CLUTCH HUB AND CLEANED. I SANDED THE CLUTCH FIBER AND CLEANED. I CLEANED AND SANDED LIGHTLY THE PLACES THE BELT RUNS. I PUT IT BACK TOGETHER . FOR 200 TO 25O MILES IT WAS SMOOTH AS SILK. NOW IT'S DOING THE SAME THING. I REBUILT THE VARATOR NOT LONE AGO AND PUT NEW WEIGHTS IN IT.
ALSO THE SCOOTER CRANKS GOOD THE FIRST TIME EACH DAY, BUT WHILE RUNNING IT WILL START TO RUN SLOW. SOMETIMES IT WILL DIE. IF IT DOESN'T DIE LET IT RUN AND IN A LITTLE WHILE IT WILL GO TO THE CORRECT RPM AND RUN FINE. IF U DON'T WAIT FOR THE WARM UP .IT WILL DIE AT YOU FIRST STOP. I LIVE IN FLORIDA SO IT NEVER GETS COLD THANKS ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may need to adjust the valves.... .004 intake and .005 or .006 exhaust....then adjust the idle... 1800 to 2000....I used .006 on the exhaust on my scoot....with the scoot on the center stand adjust the idle till the rear wheel starts to turn and then lower the idle till the wheel stops turning...the fuel filter may need to be changed...

Are there any guides or videos on adjusting the idle? Seeing this made me realize mine is a bit high. I have a YY250T

Which engine do you have? Horizontal Linhai or the vesicle cloned Honda by CF Moto? If vertical you need to take off the small panel behind the battery. Two screws and lift off. The idle screw is the one with the spring under it. Easy to get to.
The information posted above is correct. Speed up idle till wheel is turning, then slow down till wheel just has stopped turning. .

Yes Paul these guys helping have all hit the nail on the head. With a little more info all of us can help you get this problem corrected and I'll ask a few things that has to do with your opening statement.
(1) When you rebuilt the variator and put the new weights in we still need to know for sure what engine because even though a variator is a variator the moto style one has 6 weights and is a little different than the linhai one with 8 weights. Please give us soke more infor on the rebuild part. (2) Now sanding the clutch bell and pads are exceptable things to do to smooth out a jerking or grabbing clutch, sanding the face of the clutch discs can be a bad thing if you get it rough in any way. Also one can sand them and then give the pads a fine coat of boric acid found in common roach and ant killers like Goodies brand. It will seat the pads to the clutch bell and make it grip smoothly. (3) the belt, have you checked it for wear and seen how wise it is now? A belt with just a small percentage of wear and stretching can cause these issues too. (4) Dying at stop signs and not runn ing well? Bhinch already mentioned adjusting the vales, this is a classic symptom. (5) Yes how many miles on it? This helps all determine if it's time for the old val;ve adjustment?
Hang in there, we are here to help and will be waiting for a little more information.

THE 250 IS A LINHIA. THE BIKE HAS 3100 MILES ON IT. IT HAS 1400 ON IT SINCE NEW GATES BELT. IT HAS BEEN SHACKING FOR ABOUT 1000 MILES. I WILL TRY THE ROACH SPRAY ON THE CLUTCH. THE BELT LOOKED GOOD WHEN I HAD IT OFF LAST WEEK. I WILL SET THE VALVES AGAIN. I SET THEM ABOUT 1400 MILES AGO. THANKS GUYS!!! THE SCOOTER IS AN O9. I THOUGHT ALL ROKETA 250 54 B,S HAD THE LINHIA IN THEM? THE WEIGHTS ARE DOC PULLEY 13G

You might want to try bold type like this. Click on the bold capital B in the add tags segment above the smilies. Then type your message between the two sets of bracketed b's. When you preview the message and post it, you will get a bolder type which is easier to read.

Hey Paul we understand and never did think you were yelling and whatever you need to do to be able to read and communicate is fine.
My 250B has never shook but sometimes the clutch yells a little just got used to it.
Also since we now know it's the linhai I'll ask you this, did you put grease ,in the variator after cleaning up the awful Chinese mess? If you put new Dr. Pulley rolers in then they need no grease they are self lubricating and if they are sticking then the scooter will vibrate.
Keep us informed we are here to help.

My 250 Bali shook on take off too! I saw three springs in clutch from the pads was rusted, used a little wd40 and smooth now! although it did slip a little from wd40 over spray but saw the damage is done as my clutch bell was purpled from the excessive heat so will be replacing the clutch soon and thinking I might as well do different weights sounds like sliders are better then the rollers not sure what weight I would want, not sure whats the stock but thats talk for another thread just saw I wasnt only one that had a shake/jerking at take off then smooth out once up to speed
