Hello everyone thankyou for the help so far. Friday night I put a charger trickle charge on scooter and left it there til Monday morning. I made multiple stops today and sometimes it gave me a hard time starting. I put the volt meter up and here are the results: 1. bike off - 12.36 2. at Idle - 12.84-12.85 3. held throttle at 5k rpms - 13.06 4. at Idle after holding throttle - 12.94-12.95 5 Idle w high beams - 12.90 6. Idle w high beams and left turn signal - It would jump around and keep getting lower, lowest was 12.66 before I stopped it. 7. idle after shutting off high beams and turn signal - 12.84-12.85
What's next?

Good day everyone, I've been sick almost 2 mos and thank GOD I'm still alive and survived that respiratory virus the seems to hospitalize us asthmatics. Now that I'm alive and dancing I've been back on my scooter 2012 Jonway yy250t-54b. Just a couple days ago i was having trouble starting it at work then when i stopped by the post office it would start back up. I charged the battery and was able to drive it home Ive been charging it every night last 2 nights and when i start it at work it has a hard time starting. I took it to checker and they tested the battery said its 100% healthy but when they tried to measure the charging system it said there was no charge found. The rep said its either a main fuse or my alternator. First off I thought my main fuse was the bus fuse going from the battery to the starter solenoid? I need to know could this be a fuse issue and if so where is this bloody thing? Also I would assume like cars they would have an alternator but I honestly don't know. Does this bike have an alternator and where is this thing located? Please help, Thank you.

Now...when my motor or drivetrain eventually dies, can i acquire a larger one like from a 400 cc and retrofit it in this body? Has anyone here ever done such a thing or known someone that has?

I hadn't considered all the problems vibrations will cause short and long term until you mentioned it. Every problem I've had including the possibility of the main fuse is a direct result of the jitters. On another post it was recommended to remove the glass fuse for a blade fuse to help w vibrations and immediately swap out all the chinese fuses that come with this thing. Ill be doing the fuses after armageddon, holidays and new year Yes I would like to see your mods and most likely i'll be doing the same thing. That latch does have its own party however I'm thinking if we could put some sort of foam gasket like what you see around car doors that might keep it tighter and waterproof? perhaps??? I hadn't considered the fuel hoses degrading from the inside out, my work is relocating me over by chase field to metrocenter so my miles will be far less which means I can take my scooter apart and not be rushed to put it back together I could just ride my mountain bike to work Then I'll replace these fuel and why not any other hose as well. Maybe put a checklist together that way when I decide to buy another I can just get these things done right away. While looking online at some accessories for the burgmans I found that you can get foglights for them. Has anyone added any foglights or additional lights in the front, or possible some led strands on the body. Personally I like bright lights and well,...the more the merrier If I do add lights what steps do I need to do to make sure it doesnt drain my battery? Also, my radio has 1 station and its in spanish. i've always used the ipod feature but seriously how do you change the radio station, its starting to get on nerves lol

This saved time and provides a better view. I can close the flap and use the other piece to screw it down. simple and convenient

This morning I went to fire up the scooter only to find it would start just to die right away...uggh round 2 lol. i figured yesterday when the valves were adjusted the motor was really warm, really hot more like. So, I adjusted the valves again with the motor cool and now its better. The bike is more responsive, and it starts faster. I let the bike get hot and at idle it was good, i let it cool an hour and it fired up again no issues. I tried it again 8 hours later....no problems starts up quick i was going to dread having to take the rear body panel off again so I made a small modification I'd like to share. All i did was use a hack saw and made 2 slits to give better access to the valve adjustment process...here are my pics.

This is all good information. Whid thanks for sharing both sides of your experiences. When i was showing my father in law the new bmw 650 cc and the aprilia SRV 850 he was telling me I should just go with a mc instead of a scooter. But he's never ridden a scooter. I'm thinking about leaning more towards the larger scooter based on your experiences. Besides..I'm happy with my ride, how much better could it be if I have to shift? I drive from about AMC 30 I17 & 101 to Downtown phoenix m-f. I started off taking 7th st down until I reached the 500 mile marker. Since then I take the I17 everyday. I hop in the carpool lane and its smooth sailing, I've reached top speed at 79mph w no mods but I try to keep it around 65 now that the dealer told me I need to take it easy on it lol. I personally dont find it difficult to maintain control except the couple of times I rode too close to a big rig w box trailer. My scoot was shakin everywhere, clearly not a smart decision, so now I avoid them and keep my distance when i'm behind them. If they pass me on the side I don't really notice a draft. Thanks for all your help. BTW...I put my eye in the kitchen sink w cool water running over it and blinked often. Pain went away after about 20 mins. Again not another good decision from me lol

I think the review was entertaining and pretty good. I for one didnt know a 150 could go 60mph and capable to ride on the freeway. My 250cc max's out at 79 on the freeway. I disagree when he states no one should buy a chinese scooter. My own personal story I was driving a lifted 84 jimmy that i had put alot of money and work into and it was a gas guzzler...one day heater hose blew and all the fluid got into my motor and killed the truck. i sold it for a 1000 then used it as a down payment on my new 2012 jonway. its retail sticker was 1999 and i financed the rest. In the 3 mos i've had it, ive had to replace my front brake complete setup ($95), fuel filter ($3.00), (oil, gear oil, coolant = $55.00). I ride about 250 miles a week and spend about $13.00/week in gas 91 octane. Insurance about 25/mo (thats w 0 years motobike experience). I've taken my scooter apart about a 5 times in 14 weeks. I was spending $580/month in gas on my truck, insurance same price, and was always makin repairs. As aggravating as my scooter can be, it is by far the best investment i've made in a long time. Everything about them is cheap and they have 1 function...to get from point a to b and they do a good job of it. I believe though that anyone who is considering getting one, should already have tools, patience, and understand that these things do require a bit of your time (until your more familiar with everything on it). To this day I don't regret my purchase, its fun, economical and just makes total sense.

I currently have the2012 jonway yy250t 54b scooter. Does anyone know what the avg lifespan of the drivetrain is...provided it has diligent proper maintenance? Is it possible to take a larger drivetrain from like a burgman or silverwing 450cc's and place it in this scoot? (provide the opportunity presented itself). If it is possible will there be a instructional in the mod section here at the university? ;D I told the dealer i wanted to go larger than 250cc's the other day and he recommended a good starter would be between 450-650 cc's. I looked at the silverwings, burgman's, aprilia, and the new bmw scooter . I've never ridden a motorcycle before and this scoots my first motobike. Can anyone tell me their personal preference who has ridden a motorcycle and a larger scooter and why the prefer their selection. thanks. On a side note I was itching my eye when it started burning...I forgot I was dicing some ghost chili's earlier today. **OUCH!!!**

When I got my scoot and reading all over the net about the different types of oils and the "break in period". I read somewhere that the new gear oil will actually get better with more use...until its time to change it at 5ooomile marker or twice a year. Unless you start to see a leak then you may need to change it more often. motor oil I have no idea, I cant see the harm in it except the expense and time into it. Did you change your fuel filter and fuel/vaccuum hoses yet? In another post you mentioned you were going to do it this weekend. I thought about it, but I really didnt want to take the whole thing apart then put it all back together lol. At this point I didnt find the juice worth the squeeze. But hey if one of those lines busts on me, I wont be laughing lol. Good luck.

Latest update, today I changed the fuel filter. Then adjusted the valves using that great video JR provides. Even after adjusting I'd let the motor run and within about 5 mins it died again, Redid the valve adjustment and again it was going to die then I noticed a rattling hose clamp jumpin around like it had its own party in there. I found my vaccuum line directly on top of carb was just about off all the way. I slipped it back down tightened the clamp and put the valves back where there were in the beginning. I let it run idle for 20 mins and it didnt die. Went and got gas then let it idle at my hause another 10 mins. No problem all is and should be good for now. Thank you all for your help.
