EFI is a good idea but I'm not sold. With scooters having automatic chokes and diaphragm carbs it seems to me, "Close Enough." On my motorcycles you pull the choke lever, wait for it to warm up and then shut off the choke and even still it runs a little ragged til it warms. The scooter is totally twist and go with no hitches. Almost four years and not a single issue with the carb. None in the history of my bikes either. I'm sure we all have F.I. in our future. All my cars have it. Even the 1993 pickup has throttle body injection.

They were neat looking but as I recall they didn't exactly strike fear into the opposition. The FIA banned them soon after.

Here's how I view the investment part. Last season I rode about 4,000 miles on my two wheelers, 2500 of that on the Chinese scooter. Few of those miles were joy rides. I saved about $500 in gas, not to mention the wear and tear on the car. If I keep doing that for 10 years I'll have saved-what?-40,000 miles. Think of the gas, tires and brake jobs I won't do in the car saving those miles. It also means I can put off the purchase of another car for a bit. Suddenly a $1000 150cc or $1600 250cc Chinese scooter looks like a bargain. Yes, I'll burn those components on the scooter, but the savings in not buying another car for a couple of years make it seem like a wash.

What I don't get is the cheapest part. From what I've seen GS Motorworks and Green Earth Scooters are about the cheapest after you add in the cost of shipping the "Scooter Depot" types charge. At least for a 50 or 150cc. They also carry parts for what they sell and their machines are solid performers. After that KillerMotorSports is the best price for a 250cc-shipped. At least after years of reports in most forums they're good people to deal with. They also carry parts and honor their warranty just like the previous two.
The people at Superiorpowersports and Powersportsmax sell at fair prices but have sketchy after sales reviews. The less said about Sunny Sports and Scooter Depot the better.

This is probably out there but I used to get a ticking noise from the PAIR reed valve on a motorcycle I once had. It was crud buildup keeping it from seating properly. Maybe one is broken if you still have them and doing something weird. Just a thought.

We've already had four inches of snow this past Saturday. People are buying new snow throwers and shovels like they're free. I've got gas in the garage for my thrower and none of my two wheelers have seen the road in a couple of weeks.

If you read the specs for that same company's 150s, they say the same thing-Top Speed 58. More than likely whoever inserted the copy just cut and pasted and then made revisions. Either he didn't know its top speed or missed it when proofreading. I don't think this a worse deal than all the Linhai engined 2008 250s on the web. No matter what you buy online a good PDI is in order. Honda engine clones have shown themselves to be a reasonably good deal in everything and much less trouble to get running right than the Linhai motors.

Are you sure you have absolutely no air leaks around the carb?
Yeah what he said. I had a problem with a lean surge on mine and I did the WD-40 test. When I sprayed the intake manifold with WD-40 the engine started to race. Turned out the O-ring on the intake manifold was squashed and letting in air.
