a whole new carb??? how difficult would you say that it is to put a new carb in? it doesn't look too terribly difficult from looking around.

and the diaphragm is torn a bit... could this be having an impact on my scooter's speed and performance?

So here is the situation... couple weeks ago, my lever and shaft splines on my kick start were stripped... after tightening the ever living hell out of the pinch, I got a few more starts out of it, but they were both stripped out after that.
So my logic was... drill a hole through the shaft and lever, since I will need to get a new shaft and lever anyway, and put a bolt through it... 4 broken bolts later... I decided to put an Allen wrench through it and it worked just fine for a few days until the kick start lever literally broke at the hole that I made and warped the newly drilled hole through the shaft.
So what parts will I need to replace?
Next question is more about the theory on how a scooter works... if a scooter kick starts without a battery and runs just fine... does that mean the stator is working ok? my guess is yes because what other source of power is there... please let me know if I'm correct in this assumption. I'm replacing a regulator when it comes in the mail and I'm curious to know if I fried my stator as well.
BTW... this is a 50 cc chinese scooter

yeah I found out that they are "balast resistors"... don't see a connection on the harness for them.

they light up but don't blink... I'm pretty sure I have it hooked up correctly. They weren't blinking before i put the new wiring harness in... when I got the scooter they were blinking
