Here in GA we seem to be getting ethanol at above the original 10% in our fuel. Mountain Moped thinks it may be closer to 14%. As a result the jets in the carbs are clogging up and carb bowls are shellacing. We have both encountered this problem and he has had to clean out the carbs on his and my scoots. (I am mechanically handicapped) It seems to happen when the scoots are not being run regularly. Also being seen in lawnmowers. weedeaters and chain saws. Has any one else encountered this problem?

Loved that video. I had turned 9 in May before VJ day on 8/14/45. I remember the celebrations on VE and VJ days on Patton Ave. in Asheville., NC. OK, JR, jhere is your answers the best that I can recall. Royal Crown Cola in a 12 oz botthe was 5 cents. Post cards were a penny and regular mail was 3 cents. Cheapest gas that I can remember was 17 cents a gallon. In the 40s colas were not in cans. John was born in 42, JR was born in 46, and I was born in 36. I am sure that there are others here who are as old or older than we are. John and I were kids during the war. Every thing that was old will be new again.

I sold Grit door to door as a kid, owned a 53 Studebaker coupe, a beautiful sporty car. I still say maam and sir, grace at mealtime. My mom would smak me if I did not show respect to those older than me, of any race or social strata. My dad worked in the post office and was working when a lot of folks were not. We may have lived a tad better than those around us but we treated every body with respect. If I did not I knew that the ol' hickory would be applied to my legs. Delving in the past is a good thing. Just remember that you can not change the mistakes you made then(and I made more than my share), just learn from the past and dont repeat it. Hard enough at times for us to do and we tend to forget the old homily: Those who do not learn from the past will be doomed to repeat it again.

I see a lot of that sort of thing here, JR. I remember the times before Captain Kanagroo. I remember Lum and Abners radio show, my first job in Atlanta was running a home delivery milk route, definately remember no AC, cooking on a wood stove , no electricity to the house, 8 party phone lines when phones came into the WNC valley tha we were living in, out houses, not ever locking house doors when you were away, and swimming in lakes when we lived in Fl., one kid stayed on the bank while the others swam. His job was to keep an eye on the aligator on the far bank. If it went off the bank we came out of the lake, rapidly. The first TV that I ever say had an 8" round screen. Penny bubble gum and RC colas, 12 oz for a nickel. That if you had the penny or the nickel. I could go on and on!!!!!

JR, I suspect that I am older than you and I remember all these times and more. Thanks for this post and for reminding folks like me that those days, in many ways, were better than these days. different morals, different values, different behaviour. In many ways the "good old days" were just that. Yet we are living now in what will be the good old days to some of the kids of today.

JR, you are in my prayers. After daily rains for several weeks we have had a few days of dry weather. So far no concerns for fires but we are surrounded by forrests so it is always a posibility. We are still having days in the md 90s but are getting a few weekly showers.

Decided that the IB cover would not let in enough air, holes too small. Changed it out and cut a piece of 1/4" hardware cloth to take its place. Should let in enough air now..

Problem solved with not much work done. Took the breather cover off my IB Ruckus trike and it fit the R9i unit perfectly plus already has holes in it. When I said that I baked the CVT I misspoke. What I toasted was the clutch!!!! Big Time!!! Thanks for youy input, JCT842. It was much appreciated. The IB is used only on the place, is no longer tagged,so that cover will not be missed.

Now that is a good point and one I had not considered. I have noted that the air discharge is not very big.

Thanks, jct842. I have heard of the method that you mention being used before. The 2' tube is going to go and I may cover the entryway with 1/4" hardware cloth as my best option. Most of my riding is local here in the NGA hills but the extra weight of the sidecar might be causing the CVT to work a litle harder. It runs at 50-55 mph for the most part but the hills can slow it down to 40 at times.
