Agree with just bugging to check everything. Remember the AF adjustment has most of its effect at Idle only. Yes, I would expect you will need to adjust the jetting. It is very important not to run it lean at WOT. Particularly with a big lift cam and a big valve head. 150cc are not overly cooled to begin with.

Weak spark. What is a weak spark. I spark is more or less- a spark. How do you tell it is weak? These scoots with AC CDI do not have a big fat spark you can hear like DC systems. got a VOM? Check the output stator to the CDI. Should be up around 40V at cranking speed. I don't have time to look it up right now, but it is somewhere in our library here.

I think if it still runs and starts good, you are about right to try for that price. Did you buy it from a local dealer or Internet? I would change oil and fride it enough to comfirm it in good shap and wash and polish it and put it on craigs list with a good picture or 2 and a good clear description. My poliicy - I cannot let anyone ride it - no insurance. but we can start it here in the drive. If you buy it and pay for it I will give you the title signed (don't fill out the buyers name or date it). Then you can ride it off. I will wait here in the drive for - 15 minutes or so and it you bring it back with out it being damaged, I will give yu your money back and you give me the scoot and the title back.
Good luck. ( you can allways drop the price later.

If you ride for more than a 1/2 hour at a time, you might consider a good full synthetic oil. Is will stand up to the heat better. These aircooled engines dun far hotter than water cooled ones and that can deteriorate petrolum based oil. Synthetic can handle more heat without deteiration.

Jim Thanks a lot. I bought a tachometer- multimeter that had an inductive pick up and it just would not work. I was really disapointd partly because it had a very professional look and quality, My guess despite being specified as an inductive pick up it was a capacitance one. I will look for an OTC just to be safe. Thank you again. Lloyd (lefty2)

CAn you try to narrow down where the leak is. Wipe it as dry as you can , let it set and hour or so and see what you can. Make a note of what and where. Then wipe that clean and start it and let it idle and watch for leaks and make some nore notes.
then tell us what you have discovered. What oil did youput in?

Are we confusing "rebuilding" using a used cylinder with new rings with rebuilding using new cylinder/piston.rings? Years ago I took several automive mechanics courses through correspondance with the U of Wiscons in a Madison and recall a discussion I had to write on replacing rings. I was instructed that the idea of the hone was to break the glaze so the new rings could seat. YOu get glaze from the combinataion of oil/wear/heat. Of course, on a car the cylinder we were working on was never new. A new sleeve sometimes that got a lot of machining to make it work.
But honing certainly would not hurt.

I really like what you have figured out. Very cleaver. I put you on my - I know he is darn cleaver - lidy.
I would not call it a choke. It is a manual mixture enrichment.
With it I can adjust how much it is one, for how long a when. I can even reach down and tweak the mixture to see if it runs better at WOT when I suspect it is a bit lean.
thanks

I wish it were so simple that "power was in the intake and exhaust".
I would agree that years ago if often was the weak part of the engine. Old flat head fords needed a new overhead valve system simply awfully. The standard GY 6 engine needs a big valve or 4 valve head long before it needs a "performance" exhaust or air cleaner.
Noise is not power. Backyard engineering is often just that. Labeling does not make it so. Accurate measurement of speed and power is not state of the art anymore, but it does require a bit more than a china meter or even a phone app gps. It is not at all difficult to measure out an 1/8 mile and set up a simple, but accurate stop watch timing course.
But I do love the sound of some exhausts.
