;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D HI & WELCOME GLAD TO HAVE U ABOARD.
Now im not a mech but i know a few things
to answer your question IMHO it could be 1 of 2 things the stator/magneto or the pick up coil NOT COIL--- PICKUP COIL but before u swap em out just test em with a VOM.
i dont have a link handy wait i might naw it disappeared
well someone on here will give 'em a few hours to wake up lol and they will post one
good luck

thanks for all of the input....found the green wire(ground) from stator is melted...gotta be a bad body ground and/or starter ground somewhere...hope it doesn't need a complete wiring harness

you can fix that wire , then trace the neg battt cable it should goto the frame and the engine . When the main battery/engine ground has a bad connection that little green wire tried to hold the load and burns . This would explain a weak spark . first the main engine ground fails , then when you try to use the starter the little green one cooks.

Stator,pick-up coil, high tension lead or the plug boot.. they can all go bad
Check the AC volts on the black and red wire from the stator to the CDi should be 50+ volts AC.. anything less the stator is your problem...

Weak spark. What is a weak spark. I spark is more or less- a spark. How do you tell it is weak? These scoots with AC CDI do not have a big fat spark you can hear like DC systems. got a VOM? Check the output stator to the CDI. Should be up around 40V at cranking speed. I don't have time to look it up right now, but it is somewhere in our library here.
good luck lefty2

The red/black on a AC type CDI can be anywhere from 50+ volts to 90+volts.. mine is 105Volts...
below 40volts and the spark will be marginal... (weak)

Thanks sprocket. I could not remember at the moment , and I had an employee waiting for instructions - so you know how came first.
