I have taken it out so I could replace it. Ordered one for about $18. Mounting holes were at 3" on centers. I need something bigger at about 3-1/4" centers. I have found one but their price is $34. I also found one on the Rocketa part list but they have kindly reduced the price from $112 down to $64, I think. So many on the web for $7 to $15 but they all have 3" centers on the mounting holes.
Any one know of a good fuel pump with the 3-1/4" (approx) centerline to centerline mounting holes with the ability to pump for the 244cc engine and not cost so much.
Right now I have put my old pump back in and it just does not want to start at all. Prior to taking it out it would start but never ran well at all and kept changing speeds while idling. From 1500 to 3000 to less than a 1000 to 2000 then suddenly slow to a stop.
I was able to get it to start at about 3/4 throttle but now the engine just smokes a lot, so I shut down.

Fuel pump wrong mounting hole locations. Returned and waiting for a response from the store owners. Hopefully this coming Monday. If they can not meet my requirements then I go somewhere else and try again.
They really are fast and always someone to take my calls. I consider them to be a good company. Wish they did have basic dimensions, mounting hole centers, on the drawings.
I really don't think brand name is most important as long as it does the job.

Thanks cyborg, so long now that it has turned into my hobby. It sits in my garage till I have some spare moments and I go out, change something and try again. Getting better little by little, but still something not right. If this works I can start putting all the covers back on and go for a ride.

OK, not many answers to my questions so I just gambled and ordered a new fuel pump. Had real good response from this particular supplier so will say some words about him. I decided to go above those $5 dollar one on those web stores. So I was willing to pay $15.61 for a new pump that was posted as being good for a range of scooter from 50cc on up to 250cc and including Roketa and Jonway which sound much like names I have found on my scooter and title work.
Ordered about 1 pm on 4 January 2016. Had an email on 1:30 pm on 4
Jan that said they had my part at $15.61 plus $3.95 shipping = $19.56. On 5 January I receive another email and said it had shipped and they provided a postal tracking link. 3:30 Jan 5 the order was picked up. Today on 7 January I found the package in my mail.
Amazing how fast this provider and the mail worked.
Everest Parts Supplies
They are located in Sarasota Florida and I live south of Phoenix Arizona. Quite a long trip, over 2,000 miles in a couple days.
I have not tried it yet and may not till sometime next week. It is not running well yet but better than in the past months. I have replace many things, tried different ideas. It will start and run longer than before, sometimes for minutes at a time. Enough to heat the engine. But it runs at varying speeds and sometimes at 3,000 rpm or 2,000 rpm, but then drops down below 1,000 rpm and suddenly stops. It sometimes picks itself back up from the very low numbers and goes back into the higher ranges before slowing and stalling. One suggestion was a partially messed up, dirty, fuel pump. So I will try that now. If it works then I will be able to end my long and confused inputs.
Thanks for the inputs.

Happy New Year to all.
Now a question. I have not done much lately on my scoot. Go out every day and run it for a few minutes, if it will run, and keep trying to get the engine to run steady or idle at less than 2000 rpm. It has a tendency to run well at speeds but then shuts down to a low idle level and quits.
Fuel pump? Wondering if so and need to prove it is OK or replace it. Can a fuel pump be opened up and then put back together successfully, or is it just a disposable item?
To buy one I have looked into many places on the web. Find many that look similar to mine but none the same. Find them from $5 to near $70. A couple in the $12 to $15 dollar range that are very similar in looks, claim to be OK for just about any size scoot.
Should I just gamble on one of the lower cost ones? Not excited about buying one of the $30 or $60 ones and find they were not the problem anyway.
Can I open and then close the fuel pump?

Wow. I will have to go check the price and brand at WalMart as it appears that I paid around $50 for it. These are going for half that price. Will report back what I find.

Same where I live in Casa Grande Arizona and also Cortez Colorado before we moved. Go to the WalMart auto department.
No idea where you live but expect the same.

Won't claim it is the best but I have just been using what WalMart has had. Even took one back as it was not charging. They put it on a charger and later suggested I get my scooter charging system fixed. Put a new charging unit on and batteries started lasting much longer. Just my experience with short lived batteries.
I did not use the regular charger but one more expensive and having a higher output.

It has been 11 days since my last post. Been running the wife around to doctors for tests. I had my right eye surgery a week ago too. Also a bit cool for hanging around in the garage lately. So maybe next year will be my winning year,
Merry Christmas to all of you. Believers or not.
You can always find time to have a good day or two.

OK and thanks Cyborg. Too bad I just filled the tank with new gas and more SeaFoam.
Monday I had my right eye surgically fixed and per my surgeon and his helpers I am to not do deep bends from he waist or any stressful things for at least a week. So about all I will do for now is go out and start the engine each day to see if running the SeaFoam will help the carb to stay clean or get clean.
Next week I will try to see the bottom and the screen. If it looks bad then I will have to figure out how to take the tank out and get the screen cleaned. More gas to get rid of again. Is it possible to fix inside or is it time to buy a new tank?

Thanks rooman. That is exactly the way I did set the valves. I could not get them set to my satisfaction while it was running, so I set them cold and not running, and then back one mark of the adjuster item. The one mark is supposed to be the .004 inch we are looking for.

Thanks Cyborg. Since adding the SeaFoam to the tank I have been able to get some rather long periods of running. I just tossed all the gas and refilled yesterday. Added more SeaFoam and intend to keep running it to try to move out anymore of the melted plastic. Your idea sounds good and worth a try. Where would I find this screen you are talking about. Is it in the tank? The fuel pump? Or someplace else? I will give the books a look see and try to determine where to look.
This will not happen right away as today I had my right eye surgically corrected and may not want to get too close to the gas for a few days. I go to the doctors tomorrow to take the big patch off and will ask how he feels about gas fumes and my eye.

Thanks ellpee. That might work. Off to the doctors soon so will look into that after I go back to work on this problem child of mine. Even if rotated there is not much room in that area for the tubing and hoses needed for running. Worth a look for sure.

Was trying to find how to change the idle mixture screw. I can't do it until I buy one of those right angle screw driver things. Sounds a bit complicated as I must use the special screw driver and when happy with the idle. Take the carb out and hope I don't bump or change the screw before I get the special cap on it. Maybe it doesn't matter anyway.
Today, while working on the scoot I was able to get it to idle at about 2,000 rpm or a bit higher. Much less and it would just stall out. While doing these longer runs I was thinking about what at least two have spoken of. Possibly dirty gas.
Six years back, when new in my garage in Colorado I remembered wondering how much gas I actually had in the tank before a ride. I remember taking a piece of home wire and dipping it into the tank, but lost it and it sank to the bottom. So today, I tried to find and retrieve that wire with a grabber/holder I recently bought at Lowes. I started to push it around the bottom of the tank with the grabbers opened. then let the grabbers close and pulled the thing out. On about the third time the grabber came up with this old forgotten piece of wire. Much of the white plastic was gone and just a bit near the end of the wire. I guess most of it has gone through the carb and burned up.
Since I pulled this wire out the motor has idled better and longer. I have been able to adjust the rpm's to about the 2,000 rpm level and it will sit there and idle for long periods. Below the 2,000 rpm level it wants to stutter and choke to death. I think I am on to something so later next week I will empty the tank, get rid of the gas, and refill with known clean gas from the pumps. Then we will see how things will go.
Recently I have had SeaFoam added to the gas for helping to clean the pipes and carb. Will do that again with the new gas.
Right now I am preparing for eye surgery on Monday and bandage removal on Tuesday. So I will wait until I feel my eyes are ready for working with gas and engine fumes. Then go back to what I hope is successful removal of trash from the tank.
Thanks for all your patience with me so far. Hoping this to be a bit of success and soon the engine run as it is supposed to do.
