Thanks Ally. That is what I kind of pictured it may be. I will tear it down this next week and see if that is the problem. Took a trip for the holiday and didn't get a chance to check out the thread. In the process of designing a platform to attach to the back of my 5th wheel so that I can load the scooter and take it with me. I'm too cheap to buy something so I'm designing and building my own. Getting ready to do some camping around the S.E. U.S.A. and want to take the scoot with me and too many states don't allow tandem towing. 2 class II hitches should be enough to handle the weight of the Zodiac. Thanks again Ally.

Does anyone have a pictorial of the 300 cc Ice Bear transmission? I had something come apart in my transmission and it will not shift into reverse or forward gear. Shaft going into the side of the tranny turns back and forth but doesn't engage the gear. Would like to have a layout of it before I open the tranny up. Hasn't been good day. Garage door opener logic board went out, Tranny went out while I was 10 miles from home then broke belt on ZTR lawn tractor. Maybe I need to rest until next week and start all over again. Thanks for any help.

I have Good Sams and AAA RV Plus. Looking at the AAA, they tow anything you are driving or riding. The Plus covers 4 tows per year up 100 miles each tow. I've never used either of them since I have a motorcycle trailer but it's something I'm going to look into since I do take the scooter trike with me on my RV. A couple of phones calls are cheap enough to find out. AAA also has insurance so it would be good to check them out.

Allyoop, The exhaust pipe fits loose in the muffler and is not a tight seal therefor with the flex pipe and the loose fit, it's not supposed to cause any pressure on any of the exhaust....as I said it's not SUPPOSED to. My major concern now is to get another exhaust for it since it did blow a hole through it. I don't know where China gets their metal they use on things but it's all junk. Too bad because the Zodiac is a nice scoot. Jim, if you find the proper exhaust for this thing let me know and I'll buy from you.

ellpee, That mesh is for movement between the exhaust and the muffler. Since it's possible for movement in the exhaust from torque on the engine and the muffler that is bolted tight to the frame and doesn't move they put that flex tubing in. Now I've tried to get just the flex because mine came loose from the exhaust pipe and vibrated out of the muffler on my way back from a trip to town. Nobody knows anything about this or can even get a part number for the complete exhaust pipe that include the flex piece. I talked to Jim at Rapid Repair and he sent me pictures of exhaust and the dealer that I bought the scoot from sent me the same thing that Jim had a picture of but it's not the same. I've talked with people at Ice Bear and they don't know anything. I really need a new exhaust pipe but can't find what I'm looking for and just keep making repairs to what I've got. Pretty soon, I wont be able to repair it.. If you run into any solutions, please let me know. I'm going to be talking to another dealer down here in Florida tomorrow to see if they have a solution. It's beginning to be a pain in the butt climbing under the scoot every time I come back from a ride. There is no reason for the pipe to blow a hole in it with just under 900 miles. There are drunk riders. There are old riders. There are NO old, drunk riders. Gray-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.

Has anyone had any problems with exhaust on the Zodiac. I have had problems after about 3 weeks of riding and thru my dealer and a couple of others, still haven't been able to find the right exhaust for this thing. I was able to make a piece that I needed for the exhaust on the left side. The other day I rode into town and back, I actually blew a hole in the exhaust pipe on the right side about 8 inches in front of the muffler. I only have 900 miles on the scoot. I was able to put a temporary patch on it but don't know how long it will hold. The exhaust continues to loosen up at the manifold. I'm thinking the Chinese have such inferior metal in their exhaust that it's going to continue to give me problems. I want to buy another exhaust pipe (from manifold to mufflers with cross over for the duals) but even my dealer doesn't know what it is. They sent me one that looked similar but was too narrow and didn't have the flex pieces that connect to the pipe that fits in the muffler. I love this scoot but getting tired of climbing under it to work on the exhaust. Thanks for any help and comments.

I wish I had checked with Jim BEFORE I bought my Zodiac. A few dollars more is worth the aggravation that I have gone through. It wont happen again on my next scoot for my wife. Jim will get the business from the Sunshine state.

Thanks JR for the info. Point well taken about the discard of the $9 a qt. vs $3 a qt. I will change out the Oil and go to my Havoline or Casterol. I've built race motors for years and always used synthetic oil without a problem but then again, the oil was changed out each season and sometimes 2 times a season and with Amsoil as one of my sponsors, oil was free to me. JR, Now that I look back on it, I did used a standard, Havoline, oil in it for the first oil change (15w-30). I had bought synthetic oil for it then figured that for the first 300 miles, I would use regular oil to clean the engine but at 300 miles I changed to synthetic. I had 300 miles on it the first week I had the scoot. I had never heard or saw anything about not using synthetic oil in these engines. With only 500 miles on the synthetic, I can change it back to the regular oil. In my days of building race engines (mopars) I've always used synthetic oil once it hit the market about 1968 Do you think I should change it out? I don't know much about these Chinese motors.

I posted a reply to this (I thought) but it must not have posted so here we go again. I sprayed ether into the throat of the carb again and hit the starter and it fired up and ran well. I've still got a fuel/air mixture setting to take care of as soon as I can get down to the bottom of the carb to remove the adjustment screw cover. Dumb place to put fuel/air screw. I used to rebuild carbs back in the 60's-70's on drag cars and have never seen an adjustment screw in a place like this one. I always grounded the spark plug against the motor when checking for a spark. I have adjusted the valves about 300 miles when I did my first oil change and went over all of the bolts, nuts etc. I hated to change the oil at 300 because I use synthetic oil and it looked as good coming out as it did going in but to be on the safe side, I changed it and the trans oil just incase there were particles. It's running like a top now. I keep thinking every time I get on it, if I'm going to have to call to have the wife bring me the trailer. I imagine I'll get my confidence back after I put a couple more miles on it. The first 700 miles was no problem and the next hundred, I've had to push it down my street to home after a 70 mile trip then had to load it up in the trailer when I quit on me at the gas station. I really like the scoot and really get a lot of compliments on it but think I am going to wait for awhile before I order one for the wife. (She wants her own trike). I only wish that I would have gone thru Jim when I bought it instead of where I did. Sometimes best price isn't the best. Coji, thanks for the reply and good pictures of the motor and carb.

With my Zodiac, I had 67 mph readout on the stock speedo and 64 on the GPS so I'll split hairs and say 65 MPH. Now I have a little bit of a popping problem I haven't figured out that starts at 54 MPH and it won't go any faster. The 65 MPH was while I was driving in Ohio with elevation of 1130 ft. My 54 MPH is here in Florida at sea level. Don't know if that will make a difference. I've also got an exhaust issue I'm trying to get worked out with the dealer. Looks like when I buy my wife her own trike, I'll get it from Jim. Dave, I have the Pyle 100w radio that looks just like the shark and have it mounted in the glove box also. A couple pieces of double back tape holds it right in place.

Went to the fuel depot today to fill up tank and as I pulled into the station my motor shut off. I coasted up to the pump and filled up but then it wouldn't start. Came home and got my trailer and went back to get it. Tried several more times to start with no avail. Pushed it into the garage and pulled the plug. (new plug 10 miles ago) Plug was dry and I checked for spark and it appeared to have plenty. Watched the fuel filter (it's new) and cranked the started. Appeared to have fuel flowing into the filter. Pulled fuel line from the carb that comes from the pump and bumped the started and plenty of fuel shot out of the line. Opened the breather and gave a shot of starter fluid into throat of carb and cranked starter. Still nothing. There is only 1 adjustment on this carb and that is throttle adjustment. I see no fuel adjustment for the jets. Any ideas? I've replaced fuel filter, fuel lines, spark plug about 10 miles ago. There is 800 miles on the machine. Any ideas?

I have the same issue with the Zodiac with the exception, the left side flex came out of the exhaust. Since it was free, it was allowed to slip back into the muffler an inch or so until the flex was loose from the exhaust pipe completely and then with vibration, it slid forward out of the muffler along the road somewhere. You must have the same configuration as I have on my scoot and I've been trying to find out if they really are the same. I have been in contact with my dealer but it is taking several phone calls, emails and different people and I still have no answer. I will be ending the warrantee period the end of this month. I did notice a reduction in speed and some popping when I reach about 55 mph and never had that before and have had it up to 65 mph for a short time. Now it doesn't reach past 55 and pops like a miss fire. I have 800 miles on it. Here is the photos of what mine looks like. Right side ok. Left side missing flex pipe.
