Does anyone have a pictorial of the 300 cc Ice Bear transmission? I had something come apart in my transmission and it will not shift into reverse or forward gear. Shaft going into the side of the tranny turns back and forth but doesn't engage the gear. Would like to have a layout of it before I open the tranny up. Hasn't been good day. Garage door opener logic board went out, Tranny went out while I was 10 miles from home then broke belt on ZTR lawn tractor. Maybe I need to rest until next week and start all over again. Thanks for any help.

It could just be the U piece that moves the shaft left and right some earlier versions the U piece bent. But the one that might be able to get a diagram would be JIM from RAPIDREPAIR he is an authorizied Ice Bear Dealer. Alleyoop But this may be what may be wrong with it, it moves the shaft back and forth to engage the forward and reverse: MY Shifter is on top but I am sure on yours it is just on the side and it may be the same.

Any other responders to this thread, I have a Magnum, same tranny pretty much, and I'm curious about why there appears to be a second drain plug under that part of the tranny. Is it a completely separate chamber that needs to be drained and refilled, or does oil from the main transmission chamber also lubricate that whole shifting machinery, or what?

Well if it has its own drain plug it must have its own fill plug. Mine is a little different it has a hole drilled into the two chambers and the oil shared. Alleyoop

Alleyoop My thinking too, but haven't found anything that looks like a second fill plug. Larger plug under main tranny and fill plug above that; smaller plug under the "shifter compartment," or at least it looks like a drain plug, but nothing I've found so far that looks like a second fill plug. Has me scared to do an oil change, afraid I'll drain something and not refill it and something will get totally screwed up as a result. Sure would like to find somebody who has actually dismantled this Magnum/276cc transmission and knows for sure what's up with the ?two? chambers. I suppose eventually I can solve it by trial and error: drain via the big plug, open the small plug and see if additional oil comes out, replace both plugs, fill the main chamber, open smaller drain and see if new, fresh oil comes out. Sure wish to heck one could find a decent manual for this engine and transmission. Doing maintenance by guess and by golly makes me really nervous.

It is really a shame that ICE BEAR does not require Actual Manuals for the MOTORS AND TRIKE section from the Outfit that makes the trike part. I am sure the place that puts the trikes together they buy the 2 wheelers from someone else and then take them apart and slap on the Trike section so all we get is the Manual of the TWO WHEEL SCOOT it was made from. There is nothing out there about the MOTOR and or TRIKE part. That they leave it up to the buyers to find out what is what. Alleyoop

Yeah, that sucks; RapidJim can do his best, but he can't make a manual appear out of thin air. Wish somebody with time and talent (I have one but not the other) would acquire one of these, tear it completely down, taking a zillion pictures, write a manual, and market it. I suspect it would sell very well indeed, since all of Ice Bear's 300-series trikes appear to be more or less the same under the plastic.
Guess this weekend I'll take the leap and change gear oil, using my trial-and-error scheme plan for the second ?drain plug?, and will report back.

After a chat with our one and only local ATV guru I changed the gear oil and left that other ?plug? entirely alone. Put in 3/4 liter per stamp on the tranny casing, and hoping all will be good. Quick run around the neighborhood, all seemed good. Old oil was pretty dark....

Thanks Ally. That is what I kind of pictured it may be. I will tear it down this next week and see if that is the problem. Took a trip for the holiday and didn't get a chance to check out the thread. In the process of designing a platform to attach to the back of my 5th wheel so that I can load the scooter and take it with me. I'm too cheap to buy something so I'm designing and building my own. Getting ready to do some camping around the S.E. U.S.A. and want to take the scoot with me and too many states don't allow tandem towing. 2 class II hitches should be enough to handle the weight of the Zodiac. Thanks again Ally.

That will be interesting. Post some pix when you're done and have it loaded.
