Thanks for the comeback. My scooter does not have a tach on it. How would I set up a tach for this scooter of mine yo set the idle ? Is there another switch for the dash lights? I do not think there is. I did not get an owner's manual with this scooter. I found that the person who had the bike installed a radio under the seat and added speakers under the steering post and lost alot of the clips to secure the screws into the body. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mel P.S. What is PDI ? Ok no Tach then I would put you scooter on Center stand then start up scooter with tire off the ground and adjust your idle so it runs smooth but not high enough to engage the clutch making the tire spin. Also As Mcalli said about PDI it is ussually a Pre Deliver.. We like to call it a POST Deliver inspection. See below. thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gall&action=display&thread=238

Mel,
Sound like you might have some bad wire connections. You should have instrument panel lights while scooter is running. Sounds like the hi beam switch is dirty or going bad that you have to rock it back and forth to get it to go to Hi beam.
I would say if you have not done it yet Now is a good time to do a FULL PDI on your scooter. Go through the whole wiring harness and make sure all the connections are nice and tight.
On to the feeling like it wants to move when you stop. That sounds like your Idle is set a bit to high. Your Idle should be around 1200 rpm when at idle. Your CVT transmission is controlled by the RMPs of your motor. The belt is always spinning and as rpms pick up the rear pulley spins faster and engages the clutch that turns the rear wheel. If it is trying to engage when at Idle that tells me that your Idle is to high.

Improvements There with the Honda clone 244 the best improvements are HID Upgrade there are a couple of threads that detail it out.
Improve the charging system again. There are a couple of threads on the forums that go over some upgraded that some of us have done to improve and get good reliable charging.
Then there is cooling. That I am working on right now and is a work in progress. It will just take you little bit of digging in the tech forums. You will not be disappointed there is lots of good information and more added daily.

Well I am actually more frustrated with my Linhai MC-62-250 right now than I am with this. Everything says that it should run circles around my Jonway. But for the life of me it idles great has super bottom end up to like 45mph but I CAN Not get that PIG to run worth a shit on top end. I am lucky if I can hold 55mph it is just a flippin DOG. but it runs cool. I have tried everything that I can think of. I have had to fix many many things the previous owner screwed up on it. I just got done trying a readjust of the Valves but when I started it the throttle cable broke so waiting for the new one to get here hope that the Valve adjustment did the trick to fix the top end issue. So in other word Both MODELS can have issues I was just lucky to get a LEMON in both. :

Yep. These forums are a great place to get information. I tend to be a watcher myself for the most part. Before posting I tend to do a quite a bit of digging trying to find out if someone has had a similar problem if so how did they fix it. Then if there is not fix I try to go on try and fix my self or maybe improve on what has been done.
My OMP R/R thread would not exist if it were not for JR and Cruiser. Taking all of the little pieces of every fix I could find that I had done and wrap it all up into one thread. So of my finds seem to be just plain dumb luck like the 3 amp silicon Intakes cooling fan.
Thanks for being around WATCHING and the nice kind words you have for everyone that has helped to make all the boards great informational places. I would also like to say the Same THANK you.

Todd I think we're part of the same family tree somewhere back in our ancestry. I was just thinking about trying to tackle something similar to this a few weeks ago! (new baby has severely hampered my time out in the garage lol). .. Shoot.. on that note I forget to tell everyone here.. as of February 19th I'm a new daddy to a little girl Anyway, if this thing ends up working, wold you be willing spec out the parts list and where you got it at? Like the OMP thing, I'll be copying this if it works My next hurdle I've been running into with my scooter lately is exactly this, cooling (this 100+ degree weather doesn't allow me to go more than maybe 15 minutes on the freeway without needing to pull over to let it cool down for a bit). Looks great so far! Yoster, BTW Congrats on the baby... I am with you and this having to slow down and cool down after 10 min of running 55mph is for the birds. I can run 4800 rpms all day which keeps me about 55 mph and have no issues with cooling kick it up to 5300-5500 to keep me about 56-58mph and then it starts to get warm this is very frustrating. Since I rebuilt this thing this spring it has RAN better than it did when it was new plus after breaking in the new piston and sleeve I am able to get over 65 mph which I was unable to do last year. My goal is to get this thing so I can ride all the way to work with out having to take back roads for the last 20 miles. I run a stretch of road 40 mile of which is pretty much strait level road. It is a 55mph road and has 7 towns I go through that I have to slow down for. I would like to be able to Ride the whole way to work and only have to slow down for the towns not because I have to keep the motor cool enough to keep from over heating. I hope with this MOD it will be a GOAL I can REACH. As for Detailing the specs of m Mod If it work I will be doing a detailed step by step so that others maybe able to benefit from what I have done. The OMP thread is almost like REQUIRED Reading for anyone with a 244cc style motor with charging issues. I do enjoy working on these scooters but I sure would rather be riding. In the last couple of months I have had half a dozen people stop by my house and start asking about the scooters. Heck the day I got a radiator that I was hoping would work for what I am doing this mod for, my mail man stopped by with the package he saw that I was out in the Garage popped his head in and was WOW you got quite a Motorcycle shop here. I have pretty much in the last year arranged my garage to be just that a motor cycle shop. Which brings me to one more thing on my Tech To DO list. I will speck out my lift that I built. It was build using wood I had laying around but if I was to build another one the only thing I would do different would be to make it about 12 inches wider. 24 inches works but 36 would definitely be better. This lift has paid for itself 10 times over. Anyone that is working on these things as much as some of us do should have one. The guy that I have mount my tires and balance them for me has a full Motorcycle shop said he was a bit Jealous as he has motorcycle shop but does not even have a Lift so has to do all his work from floor.

Could also be a stuck thermostat. I would check that if it doesn't stop first. JR That was the first thing I tried. I have a new Thermostat on order already so I took the Stat apart to see if that would take care of it. That did not nothing to help. It was still pushing coolant out the filler.

Man. I got this Jonway last year brand new. Seems like I have done NOTHING but work on this damn thing. First it was all the electrical. The the lower main bearing on the motor causing me to have to do a complete rebuild. With the rebuild getting a bum piston. Now since that rebuild I have been having issues with temps. So while doing some cooling upgrades today it has seem that the head gasket may be shot.
So going to get the system filled up an burpped start scooter up and work on getting it warmed up. So what happens it keeps pushing fluid back out the filler. I fill it up make sure coolant is all the way through expect it to suck coolant in and instead it just pushes it out the top. So that leads me to believe that I have a Head Gasket problem.

Well with the precharger on, it still has a problem keeping up. I think that with a recent valve adjustment, I must have messed up. Well I'll take the plastics off again and perform an another adjustment. Why o why did I adjust something that didn't need it. Addict, I feel the same way. One of the most important items and I am still trying to learn how to do it correctly the first time and get a scooter to run correctly..
