The compression on this engine to be called good needs to be in the 165 to 195 psi range. If it is lower then put some oil in the cylinder and test again, if it comes up considerably then the rings are weak. JR Ok I guess mine may have a problem then. it is only 150 psi.

Yep, that's all I've ever used. I do think it makes a difference that I can still get non-ethanol gas but I'm sure it won't last forever. JR That is the Key right there NON Ethanol. Up here the only Non Ethanol is 91-93 octane.

Thanks guys. I will take a look at all of the suggestions when I get some time to get in the Garage. I have already looked at the Intake manifold looking for Air leaks.
I had not really looked at electrical. hmm. Since I am not the first owner and the Previous owner did a PISS POOR PDI as far as I can tell it would not hurt for me to check out all the electrical connections at all.
Thanks. Todd

No that's the right plug, but it does make me wonder if he's got a head with loose threads and is loosing compression at the spark plug? JR Ok this sounds feasible. It has not been loose taking out but for testing sake what do I do to seal the thread up? Some Plug antiseese I will go get a new Plug also. cheap enough to just try it.

Jr,
It is actually the 32mm carb from Scrappydog for VOG260. It was the same size as the one that was on it. Muffler is brand new also, got it from scooterdynasty, ordered it on the way back from picking up the scooter down south. It does not make any sense to me either. Like I said bottom end is great it idles great but man it just a total dog when it comes to top end.

Check the Fuse main fuse by the starter solinoid. Unless you have changed it out to a blade fuse it is a glass buss fuse in a fuse holder. If that is good then find and check the solinoid.

Ok The Iridium plug I took out has a .030" gap. Not sure what it should be.

A little rich but not a lot and even with that you should do better than the RPM's you're doing? Have you checked the gap on that plug? May just be my eyes but it sure looks too wide? Also when you have had it on the stand have you done it with the CVT cover off and watched the variator and clutch in action? Reason I ask is we need to know if the belt is reacing the outer most part of the variator? JR No have not checked the gap on that plug. I will check it out tonight. and to question 2 yes. I have definitely made sure all CVT opens and closes the full range. That was one of the first things I did. As well as checking the rollers.

What size main jet are you running? Also, have you checked your float? Does it seem like its bogging, if so you might be too rich? Scoot, I have no Idea what size jets are in the carb it is what ever comes stock in the carb that scrappy sells .scrappydogscooters.com/LH170MN_Linhai_257___275.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.scrappydogscooters.com/LH170MN_Linhai_257___275.htmlI have had 3 different carbs on this scooter all have done the same thing. It does not seem like a bob it just goes up to around 4700-4800 rpms under a load and stops right there. I am running A/F at 2.5 turns out from bottom. The plug when I pulled it out today is more of a dark color tip. I am thinking it should be more of a tanish grey. So I am thinking it is running a bit rich even fuel milage has only been like 50-55 mph. Pics of my Plug: new to this engine stuff so please be gentle with my ignorance.

Ok has been a couple of nuts weeks but finally got a chance today to check compression. Compression seems to be good Up to 150 psi and seems to hold it. So I do not think it is a compression issue.
Is there a way to test the CDI?
