Hello everyone,
I wanted to write about something I've noticed lately. I know a lot of users, regular ones anyway, (in fact I think I'm the only one) on these boards are not from the Fresno area.
That said, it is amazing to me how much of our work has been reflected in the scooters I see every day. I can think of several ideas that I've witnessed being born right here on these boards among us 250cc owners, as we learn and come up with new 'tricks of the trade' to get these scooters running better. It's these same exact ideas that I've seen, just last week in fact, implemented on scooters around town! From headlight modifications, to cooling modifications (similar to what JR did back on the ScootDawg forum), to LED upgrades etc. Many of which, when I check out the scooter closely (in a parking lot), are flat obvious that they followed a tutorial on these boards step by step.. which is awesome!
The most recent thing that came up was a user who was reading my charging post/novel, in particular my instructions on adding a relay and my testing of the stock R/R back on scootdawg, which eventually led him to Damin's OMP RR thread on ScooterDoc. He contacted me directly asking for help with it (since he also lived in Fresno).
So while these boards may not have the most members in the world, let me tell you, we have a lot of readers out there. I'd like to give everyone a big high-five for all your hard work and the impact you've had on other scooter owners! I don't know about you, but there have been plenty of times where I've thought "man, why didn't I just shell out the extra bones and get something a bit more substantial, like a Kymco or something" - but every time I see a Chinese scooter out there with one of "our" mods on it, it makes me smile and think "ahh, THAT'S why." Good work everyone!

Yep. These forums are a great place to get information. I tend to be a watcher myself for the most part. Before posting I tend to do a quite a bit of digging trying to find out if someone has had a similar problem if so how did they fix it. Then if there is not fix I try to go on try and fix my self or maybe improve on what has been done.
My OMP R/R thread would not exist if it were not for JR and Cruiser. Taking all of the little pieces of every fix I could find that I had done and wrap it all up into one thread. So of my finds seem to be just plain dumb luck like the 3 amp silicon Intakes cooling fan.
Thanks for being around WATCHING and the nice kind words you have for everyone that has helped to make all the boards great informational places. I would also like to say the Same THANK you.

Thanks to guys like both of you for doing these projects all in the quest to learn and make things better for yourselves and for others.
In the last year I've spent hour after hour doing things like trying to find a hard elusive part, a wiring diagram, manuals, etc. and through all of this I've learned so much from reading what others have tried or done.
Also since I've been gathering info for the non-Chinese scooters (if I ever get it all in) I've come to realize all the things people do with these scooters and their trials and triumphs as well. I've read on forums like ours, and forums from a Genuine to Kymco, Honda to Aprilla and you'll be amazed at the things you see that is just like on Chinese scooters sometimes.
But I've never had more fun working with or on anything that I can remember than a Chinese scooter.
I thank you for all the kind words and compliments but I can assure you I've learned just as much from all of you.
JR

Hi guys , I would would like to Add , all of last summer my scooter was down . I had a charging problem , I did not know about the forums . A coworker suggested to search for a forum . He told me that the guys on the forum are really good . I was at the end of my rope , I had tried 6 different 4 pin regulators . I was done . I posted on the forums , I tried two more regulators , then was offered a solution , I felt it would work and that I could make it happen and did . There were some other things I was able to get help with . If not for the forums and the great guys on here I would have given up . So if you think it is thankless please put that out of you mind and thoughts . Please keep up the good work !!!!!!
John
