Hi Jr, I went uptown this evening and found out that the headlight switch only turns on the high beam headlight when you rock/move the switch downward towards me will turn on the high beam lights. How can we correct this? Also, is there supposed to be any type of dash board lights? I do not have any lights lighting up the instrument panel. If there are supposed to be lights, how are we to get to them? When I coming to a stop at a stop sign, it almost feels like the motor is trying to die. It is like a shaking, hesitating feeling. Noting that the motor does not die but does not feel right. Also, it seems that when you come to a stop and release the throttle, it still feels like the engine is moving the scooter forward and not releasing like a neutral position. Please advise. Thank you, Mel Read more: thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=250classchinese&action=display&thread=234#ixzz1TUs78Dl0

Mel,
Sound like you might have some bad wire connections. You should have instrument panel lights while scooter is running. Sounds like the hi beam switch is dirty or going bad that you have to rock it back and forth to get it to go to Hi beam.
I would say if you have not done it yet Now is a good time to do a FULL PDI on your scooter. Go through the whole wiring harness and make sure all the connections are nice and tight.
On to the feeling like it wants to move when you stop. That sounds like your Idle is set a bit to high. Your Idle should be around 1200 rpm when at idle. Your CVT transmission is controlled by the RMPs of your motor. The belt is always spinning and as rpms pick up the rear pulley spins faster and engages the clutch that turns the rear wheel. If it is trying to engage when at Idle that tells me that your Idle is to high.

Mela I'm going to echo Damin and say it's time for a good PDI as it sounds like the previous owner did not do one.
got to set her up on the kickstand and get the plastics off, go through the wiring and also get the CVT cover opff and check all of that, also 1200 is a little low on this scooter.

Hey Mela, I am not real familiar with bigger bikes but, my 50cc has a switch on the throttle side just under the kill switch. It moves side to side not up and down. I thought my dash lights had burned out until I realized this was off. It controls the dash and running lights on my scoot. Maybe you have something similar ?? Heck, I even ordered new LED lights for the dash. It wasn't till after I put them in I realized the switch was off. Just my 2 cents, and yes, I felt silly but got some new LEDs Sometimes the easy things are hardest to figure out. I too would suggest a good once over/PDI of the bike. Ya never know whats under the plastics. Is it getting hard to start?? Maybe it's time for a valve adjustment before it does stall when ya stop. Just a shot in the dark here Trying to help with easy stuff.

Thanks for the comeback. My scooter does not have a tach on it. How would I set up a tach for this scooter of mine yo set the idle ? Is there another switch for the dash lights? I do not think there is. I did not get an owner's manual with this scooter. I found that the person who had the bike installed a radio under the seat and added speakers under the steering post and lost alot of the clips to secure the screws into the body. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mel P.S. What is PDI ?

A PDI is a preliminary dealer inspection. They inspect the bike, screws, wiring, tires, fluids, etc to make sure that the bike is ready to go. Most dealers who sell chinese bikes don't really do much of an inspection so it is up to the owner to do it or get a motorcycle mechanic to do it. If it is a chinese scoot, the oil, gear oil, and radiator fluid (if it has one) should be changed. The spark plugs and the fuses should be changed out, the tires should be filled to the proper pressure, the battery should be checked out, and the engine idle may have to be adjusted. The air ratio may have to be adjusted on the carborator. etc. PDI.

Ok no Tach then I would put you scooter on Center stand then start up scooter with tire off the ground and adjust your idle so it runs smooth but not high enough to engage the clutch making the tire spin. Also As Mcalli said about PDI it is ussually a Pre Deliver.. We like to call it a POST Deliver inspection. See below. thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gall&action=display&thread=238

Like Damin said start the scooter on the center stand adjust the idle untill the back wheel spins then back it off slightly until it stops spinning.
The instrument lights on this scooter will be on when it's running just like the headlights along with the tail lights and license plate light.
You've got a bad wiring connection somewhere and got to find it.
