I had to replace my R/R a few weeks ago with a 6 wire R/R. My voltage was high also at 14 and it caused my HID's to act strange. Now I see 13.2 going down the highway at 60 and a steady voltage. I lost the tail/turn when the R/R went south and it was not charging the battery. Life is good....

I had to replace the light socket for the license plate. I tried a LED but could not get it to work, so I just used a regular 194 bulb.

In reply to your prob with the flashers. I believe that it takes a special flasher unit to make the LED's work properly. It is called a no load flasher and I have ordered one off Ebay to correct my LED prob. Mine flash too fast and I have not replaced the front bulbs yet. Maybe when I get the stop and turn to work at the proper rate.

It's me again..... I installed a small rectangular volt meter with red numbers, to fit in with the red instrument lights. I connected mine to the instrument lights, which may not be the correct place. But it works and was easy to hook up. It still tells me when the R/R is working and it reads a consistent voltage with the new part. I placed mine where the original sound panel was at on the dash. With the HID's and all the lights on, it reads 13.4 volts. Since you will have the plastic off, you can install yours on the ignition switch. Life is good....

Replace the valve stem....remove the shrader valve from inside the valve stem to let the air out. Then use a Large C clamp to break the tire bead. Then cut the valve stem with a knife and discard. They are junk from the get go and need to be replaced with American valve stems. The size is .453 and can be purchased just about anywhere. Replace on both tires. Life is good...

Are you sure it is a 6 wire R/R. I have the 257/260 Yamaha ( Linhai )engine not the 244 Honda clone. Need to pull plastic and check your connectors to be sure. The blocking diode can be replaced with the relay and this forum has a tutorial for the replacement.

Looks good to me..... bigandlittlescooterparts.com has the R/R....6 wire on Ebay. My scoot is actually running better with the new R/R and the battery is charging at 13.4 going down the hi-way, with everything on. Life is good.....

The seat will have to be removed also. Remember when replacing the R/R, disconnect the battery. We don't want to short out the new R/R. I started my scoot up after replacing the R/R to make sure it worked before replacing the plastic. Life is good....

Which engine do you have? The 250/257 Yamaha ( Linhai )or the 244 Honda...the R/R will be different from my scoot. My R/R is a 6 wire and it requires taking off the RH side skirt and taken LH side skirt loose. But do not remove the LH.. the rear tail light plastic will have to be removed (two screws) and the trunk taken off, if you have one. I lifted the top plastic body and moved it to the side to gain access to the R/R. Not a real hard task, just be patient when moving the plastic around.
