Thanks JR! You don't eat celery? They also gave us brussel sprouts and I don't eat them.

Yesterday was beautiful. Left at 7:15 to go get my annual safety inspection done. It was about 7 miles one way. The speed limit in the lake is 25 but I rode the main roads down. It was great to get it up over 50 mph. Most of the Adams Co roads are 45 mph. I did a little exploring on the way home and took some back roads - fun twisties. Had to dodge some suicidal squirrels but no big animals. AAAHHHHHHHH - the smell of freshly spread manure!

Hey JR - my garden is doing quite well but not as great as yours. Of course mine is only 8' by 10". We've been getting some rain but it's usually storms. It's also been quite hot.
Have you ever grown celery? The folks up the street gave us 4 plants and I've never grown it. Any hints anyone?

Good Luck to you and her! I hope she does well. We've put 3 through school. Just a kindly word of advice - don't let her move all the stuff she acquires over 4 years back home. We ended up with 3 apartments worth in the garage and basement (including mice). When we moved, it took forever to get rid of it.

Richard - I got them from A1hardbags.com. The stock mounts didn't work so I used 8" L shelf brackets from Lowes. The brake lights work but I can't get the LED turn signals to work. Note - JR has a cool setup for his.
Jack - I took a little break this weekend. Out in the boat twice, swimming, grilling. HOT and Humid - 88 degrees with high humidity. Got the garden in, have small peppers already, tomato blossoms, peas & beans doing well and lettuce is looking good.
Have a good Memorial Day folks and ride safe!

I posted this over on Scooter Doc too.
Sunday was absolutely gorgeous. After I got my chores done, I decided I'd go out for a ride around the lake and see what's happening. I'm on the lake and watershed protection committee so I try and keep an eye on things. Anyway, I rode around for about 15 miles and was headed home. In the past few weeks, I've seen a silver maxi cruising around. I was about a block from home when I saw it sitting in the driveway. It turned out to be a Majesty. I stopped and introduced myself to the owners. They're a couple about my age that moved into their place in January. Seem like nice people. We may try to do some riding together. There are also a couple of other scooter riders I'm trying to find and maybe organize something.

We seem to have an awful lot of vultures lately. They've even talked about them on the evening news. I've never seen them up close and personal before.
JR - cows I expect, vultures and chickens no.

Yesterday was nice and sunny and a bit cool. I needed to run into town and go to the library. At 10 AM it was 55 degrees so I decided to ride the scoot. I put the pony express bags on the scoot and loaded up. I decided to take the back road due to the pipeline construction on the main road.
The other day, I was coming back from the dentist up at the construction site. I saw this person running toward the road and it looked like she wasn't going to stop and I'd hit her. I managed to brake down and so did she. When I was past, I looked in the mirror and saw her run into a porta-potty. I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go.
Anyhow, I'm ripping down the back road at about 40 mph yesterday and come into a little dip and blind curve. There's a turkey vulture in the road. He takes off and just as I get to where he was, his buddy takes off out of the bushes. All of a sudden, I'm looking at a bird with a 6 foot wingspan a couple feet in front of the windshield. We missed each other, thank the Good Lord, but talk about a cardiac check.
I made it to town without further incident.
When I was coming home, I came up on one of the local farms. All of a sudden, a herd of free-range chickens runs into the road and panics when they see me and are running around in circles flapping wings. Missed them too. Note - I DID have chicken for dinner.
Ride safe friends!

Hey there - welcome. My daughter and son-in-law live in Henderson. I'm totally amazed at the number of scoots I see when I visit out there.

Welcome! Alleyoop's right about our fearless leader and his delusions about how fast red scoots are. (LOL JR!). Anyhow, we're g;ad you're with us.

I've been riding around the lake but hadn't ventured outside. Monday was nice and the scoot needed gas so I decided to ride into town. Texas Eastern is putting in a new gas pipeline up the way on the main road and there's a lot of construction activity so I thought I'd run in the back way. It sure was fun and scenic doing 45 mph on the twisties through farm country. I did about 20 miles round trip.
Bad side - 93 octane was $4.29!
When I got back, I decided to trim the forsythia out front that haven't been touched in years. I started at about 10, finished about 2PM. I thought I was going to croak off from the heat. At 6 PM, it was still 87 degrees.

Come on up to PA. I'm a Pitt grad & fan but that business up at Penn State was saddening.
