get to cooling system 2013 yy250t possible leak brand new By scot (Read 5,109 times)

 Any help will be great as I know one could just start takeing it apart to find overflow resivwar on tank as well as drain plug an best way to get a good look at the system ,I was told to fill all the way up then told not to ,only fill up half way , I was told there is an overflow on the plastic clear bottle ,the place I buy it from told me 3 different things ,so to be sure I guess other help an takeing a look myself I hope its not a leak  an just the overflow,when I got it I looked in there could see nothing ,from front of scoot I could see like an 1/8th inch of  blue fluid looks like they drained the old 100% then did not refill it ,there was some fluid on the plastic near the back wheel after unpacking ,first thought was a leaker ,I checked the oil was good ,next is the gear oil I found a video on that is easy take off belt cover big bolt is filler   small one lower left is the drain an was told could puta bit more oil on the stand ,they said again top it off ,they said they changed it to 50/50 ,but they could not have ,then they said it should only be about half way full,wich way did he go (rofl)so yes any help I know a lot about nothing like the rest of us ,the basics but I am brand new to this scoot ,I did a lot of research they say there good rides >:Dsorry if I jumped around a bit,slow but surely learning new hear scott

First for the readers that might be able to help, tell us about your scoot. Make, engine size, are both helps for fixing comments.

EDIT: I guess I failed to read your post title. That almost tells me what I was suggesting to be told. But scooter name helps localize any problems and the 250 is just a generic size. They come in both the horizontal 257cc or the vertical 244cc engines. Things are a bit different with those changes.

I have a MC 54 250 with a vertical 244cc engine and the overflow water tank is under the front raised floor board next to the gas tank. I have the reservoir tank filled to just about the fill opening. It seems to be adequate, no overheating and no overflow when engine is hot. If you have MC 54B 250 you will have a horizontal 257cc engine. They are similar but some differences so I can not speak for that machine.

Now for the radiator. It is under the seat. Take the battery cover off and you will see the radiator fill cap. I fill that to the top and seldom ever open that area. As long as the overflow is working that will keep the radiator from loosing coolant when hot and will also allow the cooling radiator to suck back any excess coolant that went into the reservoir.

My scoot is a 2008 model so there may be some differences.

Bob if you look at his photo at the CVT cover you'll see he has the vertical 244cc engine. Now my friend I don't know if you have a leak or not but since the scooter is new and you're doing a PDI then changing the coolant is part of it:

JR, that may be obvious to you but to me not so obvious. Until you just posted this difference I would have never known. I still think something more direct than YY250T should be used. That is just a grouping number and not decisive at all as to which machine it is telling about.

So now I will know that a longer looking CVT cover means 244cc engine and a stubby looking CVT cover means 257cc engine.

But how about that other new comers that do not know about such tiny differences. Like me. For the most parts these scoots are identical when looking at them.

I tried to copy the pictures from the Roketa catalog but for some reason they would not copy for me. Maybe catalog protection of some sort. But it is just the length of the silver part is longer on the vertical engine, from the rear wheel center toward the engine.

Hate to hijack a thread, but I have to say all these MC designations are confusing. My 2011 Roketa paperwork says either MC-54B-250 or MC-54-250B -- sorry, don't have it in front of me at the moment -- but it very definitely has the 244cc vertical engine.

And for the original poster, best I can recall, on my 2011 Roketa the radiator filler cap is not under the BATTERY cover, it's under a second little access panel under the seat, to the rear of the battery cover. Mine also has stickers on it that say YY250T, though as others have noted, that designation is not to be relied upon.

Bob the poor marking of these two scooters will never change, I've known this ever since they introduced this reflex copy with two different engines for a long time since they appeared in 06.

But if someone give me a clear picture of their scooter like this member did I can tell the engine by just looking at two things if I can see them.

Here is the linhai engine on the muffler side:

Se how the above scooter even though it has a 257cc linhai in it is labeled YY250T? I can show you pictures of hundreds of 250B's with this engine, the 244cc engine labeled as 250 or 250B or even YY250T?

So when I when I see the CVT cover or muffler plainly I know what scooter engine it is, the linhai never changes on this model the reflex copy. The CVT cover can be a little different on the 260 VOG which is a copy of the Burgman 250 and it never has the vertical engine.

ellpee, thank you for that correction. I blew it on that location. Right you are, it is under the little trap door in the area behind the battery box and cover. You are absolutely correct as my machine is also noted to be a MC 54 250 B on the body, but to see how Roketa has handled that go to this link.

Scroll down through the list of product till you find the ones marked MC 54 250 and MC 54B 250. I have no idea where that extra B at the end came from. I have never found a reference to it anywhere either. Click on either one 'for sale parts and menu'. Check the engines in them and it matches what I know about them to be true. 54 is 244cc and 54B is 257cc.

Now for the YY250T, to me it means nothing to the scooter as it is a California designation and lists lots of things under a same or similar designation.

*** I can not copy or print this document. So suggest looking to the link I have posted. There are many YY250T designations on this document. All concerning air quality.

If someone knows this to be untrue, please post to me about it. It seems that many folks around the world are using these numbers to be scooter designations. I think this number is more of recognition of clean air standard than a scooter designation. But I could be wrong too.

I will try to chase my concerns even further. Far too much confusion going on in my mind.

yes that weird bobf, I have the 244 says right on it ,so either got leak mabey not ,it was just during the short ride ,mabey overflow ,thank guys for all the suggestion it got real cold hear in NH today from 40 to wind chill like 5 ,it was comeing out in between the red an black lower panals left side .the cap comes off so hard ,that getting it back on will be some kinda modification,like the fuse box that cover brock right off when I careful tried to lift cover I am thinking they do ,reuse a lot of components left from the year that did not sell my thought I guess,i took off the mc-250-B STICKERS .I will take a look there soon thank you guys will figure it out together,its not leaking full time or anything ,so I guess that a good thing ,the cap to the tank was so hard to get off I had to pry it off ,now it does not want to go back on ,that alone could be it though I thought I had it back on I guess the cold weather does not help with rubber an plastics did anyhave that happen the cover not going back on thanks alot scot

Actually Bob the YY250T is another model of this scooter that is generally sold in Europe. The European model doesn't have a blocking diode and has a on/off headlight switch. You see one over here occasionally. It seems the Chinese like to label them all this but again the label on this scooter doesn't mean a lot, all parts are the same except engine parts and the rear wheel is different.

Warm the rubber reservoir tank cap and put a thin film of Vaseline on it and it'll pop right back in.

thanks Jr I will do that ,an spend some time getting its looked over I have one of those radient heaters ,an the fairly new garage so all an al life is good thanks guys ,it seem to run ok for as cool as it was yesterday ,they had the upgrade to the italika carb adjustable ,they said the other was not adjustable ,whear I live in the hills I needed the adjustable one ,I had never hear of a carb that can no be adjusted ,I wonder what the guys do ,that end up with the ones you can adjust I guess they can be used to certain areas only thanks again

this 2013 has the hump on the seat I wonder id the box is worth putting on it ,I only plan to ride about 15 miles one way ,no long trips till I am sure this thing is reliable I guess certain things we have to find out for ourselves ,are the shocks adjustable I had thought someone said they were I did not take close look yet ,I imagine if one takes parts from the Honda they could have a smother ride suspention  working on loading the bigger pics time for bed soon thanks everyone sorry my spelling stinks oh ya spell check I am feeling lazy today

does anyone have a picture of the radiator basically with plastic taken off so one can see the cooling tank ,though like I guess I had said ,I need to see what things look like in mine as I am sure doing my own work will be a good thing so will take it part at some point an see what looks like ,an get the vasoline out
