So no matter where I look on the Web, it appears Zodiac/Tornado/Magnum/Compeller are my Chinese options. Anyone have thoughts about how to rank those for performance, durability, etc.? PM me if you'd rather not post that kind of thing for general audience enjoyment.

They are all pretty much the same really they all have the same motor. So you will have to go by if you want 14" tires and or the skin designs really. Now the Compeller has not been upgraded and has been around for years. Actually JIM from RapidRepair did a PDI one for a woman and actually took pictures during the PDI.
They all run pretty much the same as to speed wise in the 50s. Alleyoop

The bigger tires would clearly mean more weight, thus less power/speed. Other than that, what are the advantages one over the other?

Nothing really look at each of the weights and how much they can carry if your planning 2 up if not it doesn't matter then only for the motor to move more weight. I would look at the instrument panel and I personally would want a VOLT METER, TEMP GAUGE and TACH. I do not like idiots lights if they come on it is probably to late(HAHA). I believe a TACH is very important it will tell you how your motor is running and when something is not right or going south. To me it is a fortune teller it tells you the past present and future. "... couple layers of glass ..." ?? As in fiberglass, maybe? If not, what do you mean?

I have not heard any reports back that the rear decks are still cracking on the Modified Tornados and Magnums. The mods they did really seemed to do the trick. The Compellers have a long wheelbase and cracking was not a wide spread issue as I remember. Then again the Compeller was not a hot seller.

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Yes, if the gravel is very loose, and builds up in the middle, it's a real challenge keeping a reverse trike stable & straight. Here's a video of me attempting it:

Just watched your video, texomaev, and see what you mean about that gravel road. A bit scary. No way we can avoid the final stretch to our house, but other than that, if we do buy a trike I think blacktop will be my friend. Quite sure it will be if I have wifey on the back.

If you buy an IceBear buy it from Jim. He is the go to guy for this brand. Have him do the dealers prep and if possible drive to him to pick it up, if not he can ship to you. Do not buy a Tadpole (reverse trike) too many front end problems. From all that I can tell Jim stands behind what he sells. He will be there if you have a problem.

I got my 300cc Zodiac from Jim Dealer did the PDI There are rubber washers under the body kit screws No vibration from the rear deck Plenty of power, but I'm still doing the break in The 14" rear tires are nice Bit of a rough ride on these winter destroyed roads, but oh so nice in good roads Absolutely no power loss on hills And its a great chick magnet Plenty of storage under the seat and the givi box Need to add tach and voltmeter
I like mine
