How many volts does the coil put out?

Ok turn the key to on and put the volt meter on that wire and see if it reads 12v.

Test all the wires for 12v not just that one.

If you mean to the spark plug more than your voltmeter can read some as high as 40k volts.

Yea, I also read it as Being R for Read and Black. That is why I would like him to test every wire going to the CDI and see if any of the wires carry 12v with the KEY ON.

The black wire on the 2 wire plug is the only one that has 12volts. Sorry for the confusion. Do yall think i have the wrong cdi. I remember someone saying a dccdi was bigger than the accdi. The one to i bought is smaller. Than the one that was on it from the factory.

If that wire on the bottom of the TWO PLUG on the CDI reads 12V with the KEY on then you NEED A DC CDI.
That is why I asked to test the wires because if the CDI is an AC that is why it FRIED IT.

Get the CDI from a reputable dealer You will pay a little more but think about the trouble and what it already cost you getting a cheap one from someone that really do not know what they are selling.

Here is one I HAVE but I have the AC version works great.

The First one as you scroll down. Also check your connectors that plug into your CDI if they are rounded or square. If different you can also get the conversion harness as well.

I Have the AC VERSION of this one it is GREAT the timing is RETARDED for starting and as your rpms rise it advances the timing for a little more power.

I always believed you had the wrong CDI, try the one from SCRAPPY that is the REALITIVE cheaper one and I have that SAME ONE BUT IN AC VERSION that I bought from TVANCMAN actually I bought TWO(HAHA).

Well go for it you need a DC one so give it a shot it is cheap enough if it will not work.
