Which BMS model do you have, the 2008, or newer one than 2011 (with EFI)? Which oil are you looking to change, engine oil or transmission oil. The engine oil is on the left bottom side, underneath the passenger's (right) footstep The transmission fluids are changed on the other side (left side when you're on the motor). Glad there's another BMS TBX 260'er out there, I have one too!

First of all welcome to the forum! Oil drain is on the bottom of the engine and complete instructions with diagrams are on the Yamaha Y250 Service manual on page 66. Engine holds about 1-1/4 quarts of oil. Also has instructions on the transmission gear oil. Even though the BMX 260 is a Burgman copy body wise the engine is a clone of the 250 Yamaha and the manual is great for service of the engine. thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ncmanuals&action=display&thread=265Nice pictures prodigit! Lol! Stole them from the BMS website, but did not have a picture editing software on my netbook, otherwise I would have edited them.
Recommended engine oil for break in is 10w30. After that, 15W40. Recommended transmission fluid (best to change after a good 100-250 miles the first time, is 80w90.
For gasoline, if you have the carb version, probably regular gasoline would do (but I don't have it so I don't know). If you have the EFI version, eventhough the manual says to put premium gasoline in it, I found I had better results with mid grade. I did not yet dare to put regular gasoline in it.. I'll write the company about it.

I have been searching the Internet about gear oil and I'm finding all kinds of suggestions. The manual for the Yamaha 250 says to use 10w-40 motor oil for gear oil. Is anyone else out there just as baffled by this as I am? What should I do?

10-40 oil is for the engine. The transmission is fine with normal 80W-90 oil.
Depends on what you want from your motor. Some people use 10W30, it gives them an edge in performance, and sometimes a better gas mileage, but wears out the engine more. Others prefer 10W40, or 15W40 when you have direct injection. In case you have EFI, 15W40 might be better, as the injectors inject the fuel at a higher pressure than NA; so your gas mileage might even go up for using that fuel over 10-30. Also, 10W40 to 15W40 makes the engine run smoother, less vibrations, longer engine and parts life.
If you have the BMS TBX260 the type of oil should be mentioned on the red sticker underneath the hole for filling the oil.

Hello, I have a 2008 TBX 260 and it completely went down when I bought it. I went through it and found that the whole wiring harness had been tampered with and I was wondering is there any type of repair manual specifically for the electrical system, and exactly how does this particular scooter does on gas.

Welcome to the forum. We can help you with the wiring and there is a wiring diagram for this scooter in the manual section so just let us know what the issues are and we'll jump right in and help. JR

I don't really know I went to school for this so that makes this even more sad being a Small Engine Tech it's got fire to all the auxiliary wires but not getting spark. I checked the coil it's perfect the sparkplug well I put two in the correct one was a NGK DR8EA and it still has no spark.

Find the CDI and make sure you have 12Vdc on the CDI feed wire, find the color on the diagram, most of the time it's a black wire. This is a DC powered CDI system. If so then we need to make sure the pulse wire or pickup coil wire going to the CDI is firing and it should have between 0.5 to 2.0 Vac on it.
Loose wires, bad connections all need to be checked out along with all ground wires.

As far as on gas, I have the EFI version, so my gas mileage might be a bit better, but I get around 80-85MPG from the internal odometer. I know the speedometer is roughly ~10% off, so that'd make 72-77MPG in real life.
I just rode from Hialeah, to miami, to Fort Lauterdale and back to Hialeah (about an 80 mile trip with the detours), on just under half a tank! That was in the city though.
I suspect the direct injection should be able to get upto 70MPGs!

I have a 2008 Vog 260, the same scoot as the earlier tbx 260. To cbradio i'll mention that I had a lot of spark and stalling problems early on, all of which were ultimately traced to a poor connection of the brown and yellow wire going into the CDI harness plug.

Welcome to the forum molly, when changing motor oil be careful, as you loosen bolt there is a spring in there and a little screen, sometimes putting it back together can be tricky

Hello everyone, my name is ronnie. I am fairly new to scooters (about 9 months overall/2scooters) and I got the crazy idea off mounting a 2012 TBX 260 EFI motor onto a DAELIM SG125 frame. I have already figured out the issue with getting the motor mounted but I didn't take note of the fuel lines/efi wiring. The efi seems pretty straight forward with the connections due to their shape only allowing them to fit in certain places. Unfortunately there are 2 maybe 3 connections that look exactly alike. They are the ones with a metal release. Can anybody help me out which goes where? I will post pictures if need be. Thank you in advance.
