While on the same topic; how often should you change oil and what is a correct break-in period? There seem to be as many opinions as there are types of oil? Thanks. Depends your Bike, My break-in was "ride it like you'll ride it" , but in the highway I running hard, I used the advices from this link .scooterfocus.com/scooter_break-in.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.scooterfocus.com/scooter_break-in.html, and works for me. If a new Chinese scoot, more than necessary change the oil before you ride, this scooters come brand new with a green oil that is only to preserve the engine parts, follow your manual specs, by example use a good ( Valvoline, Castrol ) Dyno 10w30 oil and gear oil , change the oil every 250 km, until 1000 Km, after that as you prefer change 1000 to 1500km, with your oil preferred. I still use Dyno oil (20w50) with 5730 Km with no problems. The only thing I would add to that is during the first 20 to 50 miles, try not to ride at a constant throttle, vary your speed and stay away from full open throttle for that period. BTW, here in Wi I use conventional Valvoline 10W40, in hotter climates and larger displacement scooters I would recommend 20W50 conventional oil. Oil changes every 800 miles or once a year. Due to contaminates, oil change frequency and screen type filters, I do not see the "benefits" or cost effectiveness of synthetic oil. The most beneficial maintenance you can do to your scooter is clean oil.

I have had numerous people call with issues opening the seat. The clockwise turn first, ensures that they are not pushing the key in farther than necessary.

Far be it from me to argue with RapidJim, But to open the seat on my late 2012 Magnum pushing the key in and then rotating clockwise doesn't get it done. Key in, my 2012 Magnum offers two options. Key countercloskwise sometimes unlocks the seat, but in my experiennce still has to be jiggled a bit. Secret seens to be, don't push the key in too far. Just saying. I think you misread what I said Place the key in the ignition and rotate clockwise like you are going to start the trike, and without pushing in any farther, rotate the key fully counter clockwise.

To open the seat, disregard where it says PUSH on the ignition switch, that is used to lock the forks. Place the key in the ignition and rotate clockwise like you are going to start the trike, and without pushing in any farther, rotate the key fully counter clockwise.
As far as your wobble, if the steering damper is connected correctly, then have your rear wheels spun balanced. Anything that happens in the rear of the trike is compounded in the handlebars.

I have been with Ice Bear since before the first generation Magnums were built in 2010, so I have seen all the mods that have been done by the factory, and there are quite a few.. A lot of the legitimate "complaints" that are still floating around the Internet are old issues that have been corrected. In my opinion, The new Magnums are a great machine, when they are set up and PDIed correctly from day one. Ice Bear will do the assembly and PDI before they ship the machine for an additional charge.
As with anything else, there are "dealers" out there, esp " Internet only dealers " that do not have a shop or store front, that will fill you with "blue Sky" and after you get the machine they either ignore your calls or have no knowledge of what needs to be done when and if trouble arises. God help you if you have a warranty claim. My advise, before you commit to buy, is to research the company you are thinking about buying from, by reading the posts on forums, checking their score and complaints with the BBB, and call them before you buy, you can tell a lot just by talking to someone.
I would be more than happy to answer any of your questions or concerns.

I received this in an email from Ice Bear,
Dear customer,
We have noticed some knockoff Maddog's in the market and wanted to make sure you are aware of a few things.
Can the "pretenders" that are providing these knockoff Maddog's say the following:
-Countless hours into the Strength & Structure of the frames? NO -Cleaner & Stronger welds throughout the entire bike? NO -4 stage painting process eliminating overruns & all other flows? NO
Now think about this:
Is paying a little less money worth the risks of selling an inferior product? NO
MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE ORIGINAL ICEBEAR MADDOG!!!

Well, we have a rainy stretch coming up, so I'll have a look at that. Already had to replace one defective OEM brake pad after only a couple hundred miles. What made it defective?

Rattle could also be nothing more than a loose pad in the caliper

I put a lot of time in my website this past weekend and plan to do some more work on it. Before I do, I would like some comments, good or not so good on what I have done so far. What I like may not be what others like. I want to make sure that it is compatible with the different browsers some of you use. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Jim

Trying to get a new ignition switch and lock set for a DongFang may be a bit of a chore. Parts for these machines are hard to come by that is one of the reasons that Ice Bear quit offering them a couple years ago. The only place I know of to get Dong Fang parts was Sunny Sports, good luck with that.
What you can do is remove the complete ignition lock assembly and compare it with lock sets from different trikes/scooters. Depending on what style it is I may be able to help you but I will need pictures of all sides and the wiring connector.
