The 2012 Magnum, 1400 miles, has been starting fairly consistently this past week, so I took it out for a run today. It ran well for several miles, but right from the start and throughout the ride I heard a noise from somewhere in the rear end. Hard to describe, sort of a high-pitched rattling sound. Couldn't identify any performance or braking difference. Was wondering if it could signal a bearing problem somewhere in all that rear end stuff. Any thoughts? If not bearing, what other possibilities are there? Are there things back there I should be squirting grease into from time to time?
MORE: Also hear a slight squeak ..... squeak .....squeak when I just push it back and forth in the garage; about one squeak per rev, I'd say.
AND STILL MORE, although it doesn't look like anybody is visiting this classroom any more! The "rattling" noise might be coming from the clutch end of the CVT. Maybe.

Check your brake calipers, disc and pads.

Rattle could also be nothing more than a loose pad in the caliper

Well, we have a rainy stretch coming up, so I'll have a look at that. Already had to replace one defective OEM brake pad after only a couple hundred miles.

The pad itself, the part that is supposed to abrade over time, separated completely from the metal part. The adhesive they used to join the two evidently was not up to the job. I heard metal-on-metal sounds, and lo and behold, no pad. Fortunately caught it early on, no significant damage to the disc.
