update:
switched out relay.
Found that fuse blows when either:
1. attempting to start the bike
2. the cut off switch is switched to the right with ignition on

My fuse keeps blowing on my scooter.
A few days of testing, and I cant seem to find the short.
The best thing I have found after rewiring the harness at the ignition, rectifier, headlights, and tailights, is that when the starter relay wires ( the plug, not the power to the relay or going to the starter) are plugged in, the fuse at the battery blows.
Does this limit me to a bad relay or starter or is it possible that something else is in line with this wiring?
I am horrible at reading schematics and trying to do my best, but its mostly guess work.
Any helpful ideas on what else I can test with a meter or otherwise to find the culprit?

I gotta find out why my lights are all out now except my headlight and brake light.

its running again finally.
Im not sure what the cause was, but I replaced the coil, the cdi, and the entire magneto/pickup assembly and then it fired up.
Meh. I hate fixing something without ever knowing what was wrong in the first place.

I received my new cdi yesterday, put it in and still no spark.
I replaced the coil and still no spark.
Given the information I have already posted, what else might I be overlooking?
Need to get this scooter running again soon.

I'm testing everything in line and the point of failure seems to be the cdi to coil.
Spark plug is new on rebuild and gapped properly.
Waiting another day for cdi to arrive.

Scooter was firing pre-engine swap.
I have not swapped anything else out; The stator was done just because It was a new 9 pole and my other two were ones with high mileage and 6 poles.
I have a half dozen coils, so shouldnt be an issue even if it gets that far, so I assume im at the point of just changing out the cdi.
Can you provide a reference for me as to what voltage values the cdi should be putting out at the coil?
I cant seem to find this information ( only a couple references to what the coil should be putting out, and some resistance readings for the cdi and coil, but no voltage values from the cdi leads to the coil terminals.

yep. Always check that and double, then triple check. Fusing too. battery to framing secure, then the ground to the engine at the stator cover as well. I'm going to quit trying today as I'm too soaked to keep playing with electrical parts, but maybe the doc can shed some light on this soon.

I have a backup 6 pole stator and pickup, but would like to AVOID pulling that thing out again if I can( T-storms all over central florida today and I have to work on this outside. Its already a PITA to get readings as is, lol).
I'm also worried about the cdi - doesnt seem to be giving good readings, but cant find definitive values for that either and im not sure if a bad pickup would still let me get decent readings anyways.

I was kind hoping for voltage values I could rely on, so I would know for sure.
I installed the stator, so I know where the pickup is, but no mods were done to it (longbo 150cc now with a 9 pole stator), so spacing shouldnt have changed..

I just finished swapping in a semi-rebuilt gy6 to my scooter and Ive run into a no spark situation.
I swapped in a newish (working >500miles) stator/pickup assembly, but I seem to be getting a bad reading from it, so before I go back and tear it out, I'd like to pick your brains.
On testing the leads from the stator, I found the red/black bullet lead to produce an avg of 80ish volts on cranking. Seems good.
The pickup however is only reading .25v on cranking.
I'm reading a few faqs/posts/pdfs on this and some say 1.0v is needed, some .5, and one .045.
Is it? o.O Whats the real minimal operating voltage from the pickup?
If not, is it possible to get a crap pickup voltage reading from having screwed up the timing, and Would this possibly produce no spark?
I'm of the mind that I'd get spark if timing was off, but it'd run like shit, but would like to know what you all have to say.
If the stator reading is indeed bad, what can cause the low voltage reading from the pickup? Did I likely break a wiring wrap on the coil, am I likely shorting a wire out on install, etc... What did I probably do to cause this?
