Might be that the brake is brushing against the brake rotor as the wheel spins from being warped I still have that issue. Test it on the stand by having someone give it a little gas and move the brake to see if it stops just watch your hands. Unless your have big woman on your back seat your cluch should not be worn this early on. GL hope you find the problem

Myself I haven't had any dealings with them Richard but I don't see anything that would keep one from using them. I just simply went to my local auto parts and bought good quality gates vacuum hose and there are other brands as good also. One has got to remember that just about any good American hose is better than the Chinese hose that comes on most Chinese scooters although the Chinese are improving from the earlier days. But I tell everyone use what you like especially if it's better and keeps you riding your scooter! JR I tryed them and had to change them pretty soon after install because they turned hard and were not the size stated 1/4id

Very good point JR...I use freezer bags to label and keep the bolts etc. from ending up lost...like he said take pics...notes....the piston rings are the first to go on most gas engines....but it takes alot of miles.....how many miles does your scoot have....these engines are very tough....low oil and neglect are the common probs on any engine....scoot or car...metal to metal contact rules everytime....destroys the engine .....we are so use to turning the key and going...till the ride gives up the ghost and we wonder why.....the demise of the full service gas station has added to the prob....so self inspection of your ride is required...stay safe...enjoy the ride... It has around 18,000k + or - because I had a broke speed-O-cable for a little while. I take very good care of this motor. I use full syn motor oil and only 93oct also form time to time I use seafoam or locus oil additive. It seem to run well but right now its burping sometimes when I give it gas and I think becasue I dont have the correct air filter right now untill I get a stock filter. I am useing a free flow filter with tape around it to keep it from being to free flowing and I believe the air is not leaveing the motor fast enough or I am running a little rich.

No need to be sorry very good questions. A good manual to get on bolt torques and how to will be in the Yamaha section the YY250 manual. Also a good thing to do is on things you're not sure on just simply take detailed pictures and notes as you tear the engine apart. label bolts and nuts and fix it to where the old saying applies "it goes back together the way it came apart". Not only that it will make a good "help someone else thread for the future!" JR Thank You, Again but what part goes out first on the motor is it the cylinder wall or cylinder?

I know the time will come and I have the parts to change out on my motor when it has finely cranked its last time I have messed around with a motor just like mine but whats involved and parts needed to bring it back to its youth again and with swapping the parts out. Yes, and I know I am asking allot but I have the parts needed to swap out from a young motor to my ageing motor but how hard is it if I have the two motors on a table ready for operation. Example splitting a motor and timing chain exct. Sorry for such a complex question.

Thanks JR This link you posted is getting more in a $ range I can work with and I guess I can spray it black. Any ideas on the plain red air filters that go into the air box?

All good suggestions by Alley and I might add the plugs to the CDI. Each wire is on a little brass crimped on female spade connector and they are famous for being poorly crimped and even crimped on the rubber of the insulation sometimes. What you can do is unplug the plugs and check one wire at a time. You can get rhem to come out of the plug by inserting a tiny screwdriver (eye glsses type) into the slot by the connector and this will push the one way tab back where the wire will come out. I clean them and soldier them myself and then bend the tab back and lock it back in the plug. Had this happen on one of my 250's and it would even cut out and die and this solved my problem. JR incase you dont know the boot just twist on

I am back up and running, but I need a new rear rim and rotor and air filter at a lower cost then bmsmotorparts aka chinamotorparts
I had an instant flat over a train track. I can use my rim but I dint want one that is warped.
Remember when my tbx-260 got stuck starting on its own with the key out and off because I started it for to long and I had to undo the battery to get it to stop starting. Well I fixed that by banging on the starter solenoid with a hammer. But that worked so I am back up and running. 18,000 miles now. I have a new spare cylinder wall and head with rings and gasket is that what goes bad first on these? I mean come on how long can this old thing go

The bike has been sitting for a while and I believe I held the start on for two long trying to get it up and started. Well while starting it got stuck on starting on its own so I put in on off and pulled the key out and it was still starting. so I unplugged the battery when I touch the battery back it still wants to start.
key ignition wires fuzzed? start switch?
