You can turn a motor over with a wrench. You can turn the motor over wit the starter. To me when it turns over it has to fire to start. This motor would turn over , fire once or twice then . would act like it did not have gas ,fire or compression . the only thing with the compression. it was not turning over like it would if a valve was open. so it had me stunned. That is the only answer i can give you for turning over. I turn motors over all the time on the work bench. I hope this helps ELLPEE

Well I got it. I pulled the top off the carburetor. Pulled the slide out. Blew air where the needle goes. Cranked before i put the top back on . While it was running i put slide and needle back on carburetor and put the screws back in . It had trash in the jet. The scooter is running great now. Problem is I have to clean the carburetor now . It has trash in it. Thanks for all your help

Thanks for the come back I checked the fuel from pump this morning. It is pumping. I have not taken the carburetor of yet but that is my next move. Thanks it is nice to have support. I'm at a age where I'm forgetting and need a little help.I find my self not trusting my help more and more these days. I have worked on harleys all my life. they are easy for me. Hardly a day goes by that someone does not call for help. I close my shop in Daytona 4 years ago.

You need to read everything from my first post on this. Jr does not seem to be having trouble under standing what i am saying At first i was riding it and it quit . then everything else happened. I have been a Harley mechanic for years . I am 68.I have not worked on a lot of these. scooters. I know these have there on little quirks. If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. This is a wonderful site to help people repair what they are working on. .There are some nice people on it. And by the way I'm from Covington Tenn. So lets be friend and help an old boy out. Thanks

It turns over fine I just will not crank. I put a start switch ( brake switch in middle of the handle bars) It is a heavy duty. I do not have the brake switch problem any more. I changed two before i did that. That was a couple of years ago .Thanks !!!!

Jr i replied in the wrong place!!! I cleaned carb gas tank last week. The bike was running about 50 miles an hr. It acted like i cut the switch off. when i tried to crank back it hit one time. then when u try again it does nothing. Wait a while and it will hit one time and then turns over good but will not hit or fire . Thanks for the come back JR

My 259-54b quit will coming back from the store yesterday !! It will crank and run for a second then will not try again. I checked for fuel. When pulling the bowel drain screw gas came out freely. That makes me believe the problem is not gas related. I was down two half a 1/4. adjusted the valves about 200 miles ago and it has been great. Also at that time i checked all plug at regulator and electronics under right side cover. I put dielectric grease in and around all plugs !! I guess I'm looking for support ? I'm going to check wiring again. I will also go back through valves to make sure something has not changed or came loose. I apreciated any ideas. Thanks

Sorry took so long to get back. Thanks for all the information !! I finally got the parts i had ordered. I took the back clutch back a part. it looked good. I went a head and put some molley grease on the shaft and where pulley slides in and out. put it back together. that put it back working . the shake went away. I was having a rattling sound in the back . At first i thought the muffler or brake was rattling, I got down and was looking and both bolts on the brake side that goes to the back of the motor was sheared off. I removed the broken bolts out off the motor case and put harden bolts back in. I'm heavy. iI guess i hit something and broke them. Now everything is really nice. Thanks for your help . It is so nice to have a place like this where people help meach other. Re mines me of older times. Thanks again
