High RPM idle
by: 2wheel0rnot2wheel - Mar 17, 2014 20:52:15 GMT -6

No, its normal. I finally got it to idle earlier by running it awhile on kickstand and then adjusting air/fuel and idle; however, upon taking it on the road I noticed only a few times I stopped that the scooter would actually idle. The majority of times I stopped the bike was trying to accelerate so I had to hold both brakes. It was hard to slow for turns because the bike kept accelerating w/o my hand being on the throttle. SOMETIMES it would behave normally and I mean 3 or 4 times out of a hour ride.

Also on reconnecting the auto choke. I'm not 100% sure I connected it to the right harness but it fit and the only one I saw. lol

High RPM idle

I adjusted valves and cleaned the carb on my Tao Tao Paladin, I turn the engine on and it idles very high back wheel spinning fast. I could not tell you exactly how many RPM. I tried adjusting air/fuel and it did not stop from tire spinning. Idle screw all the way out did not help either. When I press the rear break it will stop the tire momentarily, then after 1 second of letting go the tire spins again. Help please, Thank you

Sounds nice and looks nice but it looks unstable. Imagine having to work on one of those as well. Talk about money. When you blow your engine now sometime the piston cracks the block. Blow that engine and it will probably leave your car lmao.

I cleaned the carb completely and adjusted the valves like you said, I haven't found the short I don't think. I noticed a bunch a wires twisted in the harness underneath the foot rest for passenger, there where 4 wires twisted to a ground wire and a couple others spliced together with solder. I unwrapped and re wrapped them. I am currently changing the position once again of my ground to the intake manifold. I am leaking fuel some how all over the place and was soaking the ground wire. I just sealed the hole on my block 5 minutes ago, ISHALLAH it will be fine after it has hardened.
I'm pretty much just wrapping wires that are showing the bare wire regardless of where they are located. Any advice on finding the short ??

Do you mean high beam or low beam? If so I think its normal for your low beam to cut off when your high beam comes on and vice versa. That is what my scooter does. Please be more specific.

It does have .08 and .1 So instead of setting both to .05, I should set both to .08 ? Do you believe that will fix my idle problem? Do either of you know how I could find exactly what it should be? Also how tight am I supposed to re-tighten the bolt? Sorry for all the questions. One more thing though, how does the .10 come into play?

Alleyoop, Thanks for your reply,
I'm not exactly sure what to look for as far as looking in the back. I just bought a multimeter and a volt circuit tester. I adjusted the valves a couple days ago I set intake and exhaust to .05 but I didn't recognize a difference. I also do not know what they are exactly supposed to be set to.
