Found out why I couldn't nail down that pesky surge issue. Broken intake/carb isolator!

I do know alot, but part of my disability is; when under stress or in hurry, I lose track or just plain forget some or all of the info needed to do a task. & this has lasted sometimes up to a week.
I don't have the room to "pack-rat" info anymore. (Smaller place now.) As finding digitized info, sometimes is just as bad.
It's very frustraiting indeed. - As for making a video. That could go ether way. You don't want to see me when trying to leave a detailed voice-mail. Been known to redo it up to 9 times, ugh.

I'll admit I goofed on the test for R/R test, I will forget the proper way out of frustration. ( I can be lost for days sometimes, & make me appear very dumb on the subject, it's humbling to say the least for someone as knowledgeable as myself.)
But I do know there is a test to find the Positive pin, & Ground pin.
If I'm doing that correctly, then the pins are upside down in the R/R. - Plus, I not a fan of that video. He isn't the person I would choose to educate a unknowledgeable person on the subject. His methods are sloppy, doesn't use the proper terms at all times, don't know what color his ground is (green), & he obviously doesn't know about the differences between AC & DC voltages.
Also claims to have rewired. From the video all it looks like he did was repair the Batt. lead, & flip the connector upside down.
Real rewiring at the minimal, is pulling the wires from the connector block & reinstalling them in the corrected order.

I made the video using the resistance/diode setting on my meter. So in a way I've already posted the numbers.
The new R/R pins are "unknown". I want to locate the positive & ground pins.
Plus, I wish to know if the R/R is good.
Please, watch video closely & tell me if the R/R is good or not.

Don't need a chart, got plenty. What I need is a definite answer if this R/R is good. Because I've never had a sure one to compare it to before. This is why I posted the vid with me using the diode setting.

Not sure what to share on that. Heck if I didn't already have these projects going on. I'd be in with JR on this…

As I said before, don't have to keep the scoot. Just use it for parts on a already legal scoot. - I'm sure one can obtain a clapped-out legal scoot with matching numbers dirt cheap, & just swap out everything that isn't frame or engine block. Heck one could rebuild the old engine with all internals & jug/cylinder from new one.
So why grip an' moan it's not legal, when one can restore?

Surprised to hear so many using higher octane fuel out there. Even though most scoots would run fine on 86-88 octane.
The higher the octane number the longer time (Milliseconds) it takes to ignite/burn.
So I would have to guess a lot of folks here are running their scoots at high throddle alot more than say 1/4 or 1/2 throddle. That & these scoots do tend to run higher compression rates than some other vehicles such as the standerd car.
Would love to hear more on what fuel treatments are being used & what they do for one. _

91-93 and berryman's cleaner every once in awhile. marvel mystery oil usually too. stabil when its gonna sit awhile. Wow 91-93. That's high. Alot higher than what I heard that these scoot should run. I've also heard they perform all around better on 86-97. But mine does better on the 89, due that I do so much WOT. How's your MPG vs. performance? Is the scoot stock, what CC? _

Amazes me that I never read here about anybody using StarTron additive, even though it has great reviews. Yes!, that's why I asked. I've been wanting to know about it too. Of course you forgot to mention the octane you use. _

I have given up. I take my truck to the gas station. I put a half gallon in the truck, and a gallon in my can. That way I get better octane gas. The truck does not mind. It is a pain in the kiester. Or you could that… Well ether way, one can get better fuel octane for there scoot.

Crazedfox, how do you like the MP3??? Piaggio has withdrawn them from the American market but I have considered one if they return. As for the Elio, I wont hold my breath. Really like the design but it has been done before, as in the Morgan sports car. If they can deliver in 2015 at the prices they quote it will sell well. I'm not sure what you mean by MP3, you mean a player or some vehicle? As about the rest I just like to get a test ride on a AutoMoto. So I can make better idea of what to make of one. It just would be nice not to be as wet in the rain, & have little shade in the heat.

It is even worse in SoCal. They change the gasoline formula here. One formula for summer, and one for winter. The gas stations all have single hose delivery pumps with 3 buttons to select grade. With a 0.8 Gal tank I get pretty much what the last guy bought, regardless of which button I push. If I could get pure gasoline I would use it. Holy-crap! I forgot about that. Here in Ky there are a lot fuel stations just like that. My tank isn't as small as yours. ( 1.2-Gal. but that's close enuff.) But most of these scoots generally have small tank anyway. Now you got me wanting to find out the inner diameter the fuel station hose, & find out how much fuel is in per' foot… _ Ooh,ooh. I just had an idea on how to try to solve the issue of the small tank Vs. what's in the pump's hose! Just get a 5-Gal can, some stabilizer & fill that up. So that way you get the grade you want. Plus no need to head out to the fuel station as often. _
