I was asked about my trike kit on another board. Although they are called "trike kits" these kits add 2 "outrigger wheels" or "training wheels". These kits are bolted on, and the original drive wheel is not removed, making a 4 wheeled bike. This is why I am posting in "Special Projects" rather than in "Trikes". The drive train is not changed in any way. Your scooter only has an accessory added. The kit on my Burgman 400 is the TowPac MiniTrike kit. TowPac also makes an InstaTrike kit for motorcycles and a MicroMini kit for smaller scooters. There are also other manufacturers of kits, but I'm most familiar with the TowPac kits. The TowPac kit bolts onto the frame of the scooter near the rear of the scooter (exact location varies with different models of scoots) and the center stand is removed and the kit bolts to the frame there also. The kit wheels are not rigid but mounted with torsion bars. Riding a scoot with a trike kit is more like riding an actual trike than a 2-wheeled scooter. You don't lean to take a curve, but turn the wheel instead. You don't have to worry about dropping the scoot when you stop. And gravel isn't such a big deal any more. I really enjoy riding my scoot with the kit, and wouldn't ride my own scooter without the kit. It's great for someone who, for what ever reason, has difficulty holding up a bike, has balance problems, or just likes the way it looks and/or rides.

Thanks, Tressa. I was the guy who enquired on the other forum when I saw your avatar. It sounds good to me. I will check with TowPac to see if the kit can be adapted to my needs. I have an IB trike but am not fond of it, preferring my TGBs. Again, thanks. Wolfhound

The Towpac trike kit JUST adds outboard wheels to your exisitng TWO WHEEL bike. There is no differential which is what you would need on the IB which is driven by the Drive Sprocket and Chain. Alleyoop

Exactly, Alley. I am interested in putting one on my TGB R9i. we should get started on the IB Ruckus clone in the next few days, working on the differential. The IB is a puzzle. Left it in the barn for 4 months and it started on the first crank. I ride it every day to the mail box and around the acreage, just putting. It is a tough trike except for the infamous IB transmission problems. When on the road it hits 50, as we have discussed, and that is about it, pulls our steep hills with no problem. Once fixed it is on my list of not to sell scoots. By the way where is your other trike???

I sold the Burgy to my brother-in law, that is why I took the picture of both of them. He had a IB just like mine but he trashed the front of it when he hit a huge pothole and bend the heck out of the front end. It wasn't worth fixing so he got rid of it and he then had nothing to ride. And since I hardly every used it and around here it was overkill really. The fastest street is 45mph and they do 50-55 on it, also I did not have room in my gargage to keep both of them. Over the winter I had to pay to store it and when I got it back out I had to keep one of my cars out to keep the Burgy in the garage. I sold it to him for what I paid and now he feels more secure with it as well. He is the one that had a stroke and his left side is not to good. Alleyoop

TowPac can adapt the kit to almost any motorcycle or scooter. You would need to contact them to find out if they have one already for your scoot. Their email and phone numbers are listed on their website .towpacusa.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.towpacusa.com/ I know the 250 cc Honda Helix handles the MiniTrike kit very well, as I had one for 5 years.

The MiniTrike Kit will work on the 250cc scoots, it all depends on how they bolt up to the frame. But a 250 would be perfect for a person that needs a trike. I looked them up and depending if you want lights on the back end and size wheels they run from the 2000+-3000 for the Minitrike kits. Alleyoop

I think these trike kits are very cool. A bit pricey but still cheaper than a full on conversion. Now having 4 wheels on the ground is it still considered a motorcycle/scooter???

Here in Illinois still a motorcycle/Scooter they treat it as a TRIKE and if you test with it your license is restricted to a TRIKE. You are not licensed for a TWO WHEELER that is a different Driving test. And the only reason is the ZIG ZAG around the Cones with a 2 wheeler WHICH a Trike cannot do. Alleyoop

Mcalli your 250B just like mine and a lot of them is a clone (body wise) of the Honda Reflex that was mentioned by Tressa and the Reflex has a horizontal engine also similiar to the linhai clone that is in your scooter but I'm not sure if the length or frame is exact.
Not to say they can't fit a trike kit to it but if you do ask them about a kit you will to be sure to mention that you scooter even though it's basically a clone copy does have a different engine than the original Honda Reflex. It's the Yamaha/Linhai clone.
When this scooter first came out in 06 I believe there was a lot fo confusion even among the dealers nobody knew what they were going to get when they ordered. The general thought today is you have two clone listings the MC-54-250B with the linhai and the MC-54-250 which uses the Helix/CfMoto clone engine.
Some still get confused the MC-54-250 is also labeled the YY-250T I believe, my scooter had that tag along with the 250B which is what most folks call this scooter now but is generally a given now if it says 250B it's linhai.
There are still some 250B's out there but from what I've seen the Helix/Cfmoto clone is getting very scarce or impossible to find new now while the linhai version is still selling some until the warehouses are empty. Question is are they going to make any new ones to continue this great scooter?
Sorry for being long winded just wanted you to know.
