Alright had a little time Smutty and I downloaded your picture of the speedo on the Fashion; Now on page 9 of the manual it gives me the speedo fuctions and I see the double 0 is the speedometer and the fuel gauge bars are supposed to be on the left and the temp gauge bars on the right. Now looking at your picture I see lot's of plugs and one that stands out is the large female one with nothing plugged into it? Looks like possibly a male plug right under it? have you unplugged these or did you find it this way? Jr

Hey n4zou that's a nice looking little set up? Wonder if a guy could make that work on just a plain non-digital scooter?
OK Smutty it's simple nothing in the middle of the speedo works. Now the temp gauge and fuel gauge from what I see all feed off of a black/brown wire that ties into the black wire from the ignition.
The diagram gives no listing on the speedo on what wire gives it voltage so I'll presume it' the same black/brown wire?
The instrument panel lights that illuminate the cluster feed off of a brown wire that also feeds the tail lights, same circuit so if your tail lights do work and they don't its either a broke wire, bad connecting wire or bad bulbs?
So what we need to do is verify those wire colors and with the volt meter lets see if we are getting 12vdc+ on the black/brown wire to the fuel and temp gauges and see if the speedo is hooked up to the black/brown wire also.
We've solved the fan problem so lets fix this one too.

ok--jr---if you notice in the---pic---at the very bottom---there are 4 fuses--------the blac/and brown --go to one fuse---when i pull that fuse---my 2 zeros go---off--on the back of it--i put my black lead--on the bare connection -where the wire goes into that fuse---and my red lead on the frame of the bike---and i got a reading--of----------------7.37--smutty

Hey n4zou that's a nice looking little set up? Wonder if a guy could make that work on just a plain non-digital scooter? JR It will work on anything. The Speedometer uses a magnet and sensor on the front wheel and it's programmable for tire size. The original speedometer cable is not used or required. Some indicators will be unused that could indicate some other function. The Neutral gear shift indicator can be hooked to the fan radiator switch so it turns on with the Radiator fan. The sensors for fuel level and coolant temp should work as well.

OK Smutty lets make sure you're setting the meter right for this because I now want to test for voltage so here is a picture of your voltmeter and a arrow to where it needs to be set which is the 20 volts DC setting on the meter. Now you need to put the black lead to ground, a good frame ground or even better will be to the - negative side of the battery. Also here is your picture and see thearrows one to a female plug and the other to a male plug? Did you find this that way when you opened her up or did you unplug them? Will that male plug fit into the female one? Also can you tell me the wire colors to each plug? JR I want you to do two tests now. (1) Looks like on the back side of the fuse plug (Iexpected this) you have a solid black wire. With the volt meter set like I said turn the key on and put the red lead on this wire and the black lead to ground and write down the reading. (2) Leave the black lead to the meter on ground and then put the red lead to the black/brown lead and take a reading, (leave the fuse in) . Also leave the key on.

jr---those 2 plugs your refering to are --old speaker-plugs-and another pug is for the flashers----ok---i found out something---my gauge is not bad--when--i was checking some of my wires--i unscrewed a bit of my--negative cabel--so i could stick the black lead there and tighten it down---i noticed-when i move the negative cabel--my speedometer would work--tempory-when i tighgten it back down it doesnt work---also-the screw --that holds the cabel to the battery---was getting very---HOT---well im getting closer--i wonder why this screw is so hot------smutty

because it is a bad connection . the termnal on the battery could be cracked/broken . You could get an extra ground wire , in one continus piece connect fromm -batt to engine , to the frame and up to the handle bars .
in a very round about way seems like a ground problem . Do you agree ?

Smuuty You need to trace out the negative battery cable to where it connects to the frame, make sure it's not got a coat of paint where it connects to. Clean it all well and then hook it back up. Also what is the voltage reading of the battery? If it's much below 11vdc the gauge won't register right. JR
