Much obliged Crwford. I weigh a whopping 155 lbs. hahahaha! But my wife, who will be the primary rider, is about 225.
( funny how 15 years of marriage does that! )
As long as she can go 55 to 60 every now and then on the group rides with the " big boys ", then we will be good.
I very recently started riding with a local chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and think after 39 years
I have found my place in this world, as they say. :-D
I am looking into selling my Vulcan 500 and buying my old V-Star back, or, moving up to a Goldwing ( older -- ie: Cheap -- GL1200 model ) or possibly a 2004 BMW R1200CL I have found nearby that has my attention. I have in the past 12 months owned, in chronological order of purchase date, the following:
** 2014 Genuine Roughhouse50 scooter. Still have. Have modded the heck out of it. Currently blown trans belt.
** 2014 Banshan <sp?> ( made in china ) 200cc Dual Sport. Traded it with 3XX miles on it for CB300F
** 2015 Honda CB300F. Bought it off the showroom floor without ever test riding one. BIG mistake. The seat
was HORRID and it road like a Harley hardtail bobber! VEEERY ROUGH ride! Traded it off, after TWO WEEKS of owning it, for V-star 650
** 2006 ( IIRC ) V-Star 650 Silverado. LOVED this bike! Should have kept it. I put something like 3500 miles on
this bike in just 2 months. ( it is what is in my avatar pic ) Was the Silverado pkg. with windscreen, bags, floorboards,
rode like a frigg'n BUICK! But, being stupid, I got the extreme urge to buy another Dual Sport. So , , , , , it got traded
back in to the same dealership I had bought my new CB300F from for a CRF230L.
** 2008 Honda CRF230L Dual Sport. Had this from Aug. '15 till March '16. This too, was a wonderful FUN bike.
** 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD. Bought this, again from the dealership I bought the CB300F and the CRF203L from. Was still missing my V-star, and went to buy it back from them. The shop owner suggested I give the smaller but faster Kawasaki a try. So I have. Bad idea. It is now for sale, as after paying them $2700 for it I find out it has a trade in value of only $1600 !!! ( my stupidity. I should have checked that before I bought it. I bought it on the spot )
** 2015 Honda Grom. I traded in my CRF230L in on this new Grom. There actually was a decent reason for doing this. This time. My Genuine Roughhouse50 has become very unreliable since I started hot rodding it, and the somewhat local Memphis Kings Scooter club is having their " Dead Elvis Nein " rally here in my hometown. Starts tomorrow actually.
I " needed " a 50+ MPH capable scooter that was reliable to attend this ride, and the upcoming Blue vs Grey rally in Nashville in July. I did not like the PCX150. The Forza 300 was nice, but was $5500 OTD. The Grom all I had to pay was $500 in trade difference. The Grom is a miniature motorcycle, that rides & handles like a small dual sport, albet with a stiff suspension, BUT, , , it is accepted as a "scooter" by practically every scooter club. It was, more or less, a perfect fit for my needs. And, they are very fun to ride. However, I already have a bone to pick with it. The seat is STUPID hard, and the bike can only pass 55MPH if going downhill with a tailwind. In town, it's awesome! On the 55MPH 2-lane roads, I just gave up on those and stick to backroads. OR, take the Vulcan 500 that can hit 60 MPH in 6 seconds flat. ( I have that on a You Tube video, btw )
.
Dang, that turned into a long post!!!!! LOL
