After measuring three times I decided that the Zodiac would fit where I wanted it to go. And it does - with room to spare. Now that the back wheels have decent tires and are balanced, I am pleased with this bike. As Jim reminded us the front end wobbles a bit at low speeds but it is not really bad and I can live it. The seat latch is not consistent in opening the seat but I can live with that as well.

Hi, crwford - I know you are enjoying the lift - makes things a lot easier - especially as our joints makes it harder to get down! I am beginning to enjoy my trike - it does take some getting use to - with the front end wobble some at low speeds.I have an invitation for you and your wife - I will give you a call with the details.

About that front end wobble,,, you may want to look at a decent steering damper,,, they are inexpensive and some are universal and bolt on with no real fuss

cyborg -I have though about that - but am not sure how to proceed. Should I take the one on the Zod off and take it to a auto parts for a match? What is the dampening value of the one on the Zod now? How do I measure that? What should I look for in a damper value? Any help along these lines is appreciated - I assure you. I am also mindful of Rapid Jim's comment that some front end wobble in these trikes is normal.
Thanks - John

there are universal mount ones and also adjustable damping ones,,,or if its not all that bad,,or if it's at an exceptable level,,live with it,,,i never had a trike,,i couldn't live with it on any of mine,,,BUT i ride two wheels so it's a different animal,,if the head stock is "tight" and no play but travels smoothly thru it's arc then it might just be a short fork angle/geometry issue,,and will be incurable anyways

As a side note i have "cured" moderate to sever "headshake" (as they say in the industry) with as simple solution as a tire change,,,next front change go to a straight rib tread pattern,,,,this may be a viable solution to this condition,,i had a bike with real short fork angles that had crazy headshake,,,just about you off ,,changed to a different tire pattern it vanished completely

I do not think that the small wobble in the front is a wheel or tire problem. I have checked the front tire - it is round - and balanced. The wheel itself has been checked - it too is round and runs true. I think that leaves the damper as the next item that needs to be checked. Keep in mind that the wobble is not really bad - more annoying than anything and a situation that I can live with. It just takes getting used to a trike. Until now I have been a two wheel scooter, bike rider but at age 89 with a slight balance issue I felt I would be safer on a trike. And I do enjoy riding this bike.

im not saying the tire is out of shape i'm saying the tread pattern may have something to do with it

Hello all. New here, but certainly not new to bikes & forums. I been reading through many various posts on this forum for the last year. Finally decided to say hello. I am on china riders forum as well. I am 39, live in North West Tennessee, and after a year of deliberation, ordered my wife a Zodiac trike a few days ago. I will assemble it myself, as I trust my 20+ years of experience in working on trucks, farm equipment, and motorcycles / scooters over "Bubba" setting up something that will be hauling my wife around at 55ish MPH. Just wanted to give a shout out to y'all. I see there are some here from TN as well. Anyone attending the Blue vs Grey Rally in Nashville this year? ( July 28th - 31st )
.
I have a few Zodiac related questions. 1) What is a true GPS certified top cruising speed on these? By that I don't mean absolute maximum top speed, what I mean is how fast can you constantly go without frying the motor. 2) Did anyone set their own trike up? If so, any hints / tips? 3) Has anyone had issues with their digital instrument cluster? I hate them, prefer analog dials. But liked the Zodiac's styling so much I was willing to overlook that one "flaw" in my book. I am sure I will have many more questions once the trike gets here in about 5 days. LOL Thanks Y'All. --------------- Louis

Louis I set up 2 of my Zodiac's 1 came in PDI the 1 that came in PDI was garbage to much to list the other 2 came out very well. Top cruising speed will depend on rider's weight. My wife is 100 pounds lighter her speed is 75 with out any problem hills or not mine will only hit 70 on flat level ground but I can maintain 60 all day. My speed was 2 mile off of what speed o meters says my local friend with police dept check it with his radar gun. I have 3 never any problems with dash . Biggest thing is lock tight everything you can. I think I could help you better is you want to talk just send me a email time and date @ coverton111@yahoo.com 865-397-7864
