When I was thinking about this a while back I read that lots of people also suggested that while the covering is off you cut some foam out and replace it with some memory foam and/or a gel pad. Lots of that for sale on ebay and if you search on the old site there are a number of threads about ideas of how to do it. I remember from the old site the "big guy" did a sick recover of his seat: scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/8115

I recovered my seat about 4 yrs ago and here it is. Not hard, just remove cover and make a pattern.

Look awesome, did you have to sow it? I was thinking I can get black vinyl at walmark, would one piece of that work or would I have to make pattern?

Thanks for the praise...I removed the cover and cut it apart and marked the pieces, to show where to sew them back together. It has several pieces that have to be cut out and sewn together. I used a staple gun to install the cover. I used Dacron thread not cotton, which last longer than cotton. I did not add any material for a firmer seat, the factory stuff was perfect. Yes, I had to use a sewing machine. Any upholstery shop can cover the seat for you, I have a commercial sewing machine that I have had for 40 yrs. Your wifes sewing machine can sew the material used for this seat. Give it a try, you can not hurt the seat. You will gain a new skill and the praise of your friends.

mine is the new style with the hump in it ,I took it off for an inch more room ,I wish I could have my whole seat redone couse I am so tall I feel like I wish the seat was flat or I could move back few more inches ,yes I would use vinyl repair, the newer seats some mesh that iseem to slid on very easy ,it hard to get comfy on it ,I guess need to work it
