After what seemed like forever of rainy, dismal, cold days the sun broke out here yesterday and I got the itch. I called my riding buddy up and said lets go on a cruise. So I on my Linhai Aelous 300 and he on his Piaggio mp3 400 set out on a all day ride. We left about 9:00 am and set out for Gulf Shores Al. What a blast we had. We cruised to downtown Mobile Al, Went thru the bank head Tunnel which goes under Mobile river and cruised the scenic 98 roadway which goes past the famous Grand hotel in Point Clear Al. We rode to Gulf Shores and Just cruised the area. All told it was 173 miles of fun. My Scoot rode beautifully and I had no trouble Keeping up with his bike. Man I am gonna have a blast this spring. Anybody who says that a Chinese bike cant be ridden like it was stolen is crazy. My scoot is Just a joy to ride. Smooth as a baby's booty. I averaged 63 miles to the gallon and cruised 60 to 65 mph with about 5 miles of highway riding. I paid $890.00 for my scoot and it had 2300 miles on it. The previous owner had laid it down on the right side in the wet grass and it scared him so he sold it to me. I fixed a few things and here I am. I put some new Michelin City grip tires on it and now I an set. Best $890.00 I have ever spent.

Know the feeling. A friend with a Helix worked on me for a long time about buying something similar, and I finally gave in and bought a Roketa 250, still wondering if I was half nuts at my age. Aside from having to learn a lot about the electro-mechanical stuff, I have had an absolute blast running all over the area. Fortunately Tucson weather is a lot more scooter-friendly, so opportunities abound, and I seize every one I can without irritating wifey too badly. Happy scooting from the sunny Southwest!

Well said Scot. Yep it's time for warmer weather. What part of the south do you live in?.
P.S. I see you live in New Hampshire. Man What a winter you folks in the northeast had. I feel for you.

Melting? Yeah, we do that too -- in the summer months, mostly the asphalt and the soles of our sneakers. Which is why at that time of the year I head for the mountains and ride my Magnum. Or at least I hope I do, it has now spent its first entire winter stored in the garage. About two more months until I see it again, hope it cranks right up and keeps me happy all summer. If not, there's always RapidJim.

Ellpee, I agree, there is no place like the desert SW. We have lived in that area since 1971. For the last 2 1/2+ years we've been full timing in an RV. This winter in Yuma where I ride virtually every day. As the weather warms up we will migrate northward and probably be in PA for fall colors before we head back south. Yes I know it is a tough life but some one has to do it so it might as well be us.

Loved the RV thing, but had stuff in storage that was about to cost us a bundle after a year, so the RV had to go, and since then we've lived in places where even parking one would've been problematic, let alone the basic cost (like everything else, it has skyrocketed).
