Ok, Warm enough to get stuff done.
Adjusted valves, cleaned carb., returned the enricher to AC power (But left the 10-Amp fuse on it.), reinstalled vacuum petcock fuel valve, & talked/tuned carb. into running for me @ least for now.
Then put Lucas fuel treatment in with fuel to aid in keeping that "sticky" float from happening again. (Hopefully.)
I'm satisfied with it moving & running at this time. (Did about 27-Mph out on the road.)
Perhaps when I'm feeling more brave I could see about getting the last of the defiance out of this carb. & get it to run 32-Mph average top again. -
P.S. Thanks- Alley... _

Yep' When still cold it will idle so low at a stoplight/stop, it feels like it will die. (Doesn't though.)
But after it warms up, it does alright. So I'm not being picky. _

It should idle around 1500-1800 rpms so sounds like the idle is set a little low. Just raise the Idle up with the IDLE SPEED screw. Alleyoop

I do remember what you taught me Alley. & I thank you for it.
It just does that when it's cold. At least until the enricher warms up & fully closes off the extra fuel.
After that, it idles just fine like it should.
I got the RPM's set to where it juuuust barely tries to make the rear wheel spin.
But I will see about looking into retuning the idle & see if it will respond positively.
I currently have a 1500RPM Torque spring & Clutch springs installed. Until I get a gram scale, I won't know my stock roller's weight's are. _

The way it should work is when you start it cold the idle should be HIGHER and as the ENRICHER heats up cutting off the extra fuel the RPMS should start to drop down to where you set the IDLE(NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND) as yours is working. Alleyoop

I knew you notice that.
It does make the idle higher on first start. about 2-min in of running/driving it will do that weird low settling idle.
Then after 5-min when it's all warm, & the enricher is closed, it comes into a normal level idle & runs good.
I don't balk at it because it running & moving good.
But I will still look into it when weather is more permanently warm. I'm just happy to ride again, at this time. _

Yes I notice everything I am very observant and try and read exactly what someone said in order to better understand their problem. If someone tells me the truth of what is happening and how the scoot is acting in some detail I can diagnose the problem from thousands of miles apart.
Sometimes It turns out to be a game after telling someone to do this and that and still they come back with that did not help knowing if they had done it would have caused a certain outcome. So then I have to play the game and bait them telling them to do this and that knowing what the result will be and if they come back with a different story then I know they are not being honest or did not do what I said to do that way I know what kind of person I am dealing with.
Glad you are happy with it and ride safe. Alleyoop

You've helped me learn a good amount my carb.
Odd how a small amount of varnish can bum one's whole week. (Or a month in my case.)
With a little more time, I could actually tune more of these carb's on my own. *woo-hoo.*
The main thing I've learned is that these carb's are bitchy, sensitive. Kind of like an expensive date- *chuckle* - Never got this level of sensitivity from a 4-bbl carb, not even the QuatraJet from GM. Now those carb's can be sensitive, they are a truely misunderstood carb… ---- I will try to retune things for reliability & performance later on. But as of now, I'll accept reliability. _

Found out why I couldn't nail down that pesky surge issue. Broken intake/carb isolator!

Yep it was running lean, just remember if a motor surges(rpms bounce up and down a lot) it means it is LEAN so the first thing is to make sure there are no air leaks, by spraying water at individual areas and if the IDLE changes you found a leak. Alleyoop

Thanks again Alley. Knew about the propane trick, but never thought about using water spray bottle. Humm…

I always recommend water not to many folks have a propane bottle around, only the old timers to fix water pipes or do some small welds(HAHA). Alleyoop

LOL, your right. I do have alot tools. I mostly use the propane torch to free up rusted parts or heat up a part to drop a bearing in. _
