My muffler is sounding more and more like a tin can. I feel I have a bunch of tin cans tied to the back of the scooter LOL.
Been looking on Ebay and google, but can't find any one selling just the stock muffler. Can you buy just a muffler for the 54B?

Cruiser the photo looks like it but JR is right. It is 2 pieces and his link is right.
I took it off last night and noticed the clamp holding the muffler to the pipe was loose. It was only off a few weeks ago when my friend helped me change the rear tire. At that time he took care of removing and installing the muffler. Last night I took a flashlight and looked inside. I could only see as far as the first baffle, which looks like a big screen. It looked fine no burnt out holes in it. I shook the muffler and nothing came out of it.
Before I put it back on I started the scoot. Wow it sounded like a Harley a really cool sound. Anyway back on it went with all bolts tight and another restart and the rattle was gone. Now I'm baffled. Was it just that loose bolt and nut?
The deep sound was the high light of the night.

The muffler JR listed is the exact same muffler on my scooter. The bolts are all very tight now. I think it was the bolt which goes through the clamp holding the muffler to the exhaust pipe. Too bad they don't make a reasonable priced muffler which has a deep pitch to it.

To my knowledge, there are only two Chinese 250cc water cooled engines commonly available - the Linhai and Honda clones. The muffler I referenced definitely does not fit the Honda. It is a one piece and it apparently avoids the problem that speedracer ran into because of this.

Hey J.R. that someone was me last month....And trust me you do not want this problem...It is expensive$$$. $130.00 + shipping $40+ Ouch. So guys here is where I'm at...Bought a cheapo can on E-bay. Yep you get what you pay for. Lasted a week up the hill. Blew out the butt end of it. You want to talk loud Speedracer man you should of heard this thing threw the town of paradise. Whew I am lucky I did not get pulled over. So now I am seriously considering one of the stainless aftermerket exhuast systems. Spendy but heh I have already spent that. Hey Alley if you read this could you shoot me a link of that muffler you bought .. I thought I read something on that a while back.

Yea now I remember cptk and didn't you say you've burned up 3 mufflers? I don't get it? I've got 10k on my scooter and the muffler is fine, (hope it doesn't blow up tomorrow) and yes folks have them go out but you're the first I've see with 3 going on 4 gone?
What fuel are you using? I use plain 87 octane no issues. Have you checked to see if you're running real lean which would cause more heat? Just doesn't make sense to me?

The truth is I dont really understand either. I am running 91 ( only becuase I want to pay more ) no need to get into that. I am figuring out that it has to be the climb from 200ft. elevation to 2700ft. elevation. It can not really be the ride down other than the fact I am wide open throttle for 16-18 miles. And this is where I think the heat comes into play, on the way home the lil blu has to push my big butt (175lbs.) up hill at full throttle for 17 of the 25miles. Either way that is a lot for this little engine to do. As far as detectible heat, the guage shows very little, other than the norm. 1/2 to alittle above and the fan comes on. The exhaust does not glow red or anything crazy. But the idea is the daily use and heat coming up the hill I believe is killing my exhausts. Again I believe it is a strain on ol blu. So this is why I am chosing to go with a stainless steel exhaust that is not restrictive and allowing the bike to rid itself of the exhaust heat. Talked to nieghbor who had same problem with his ninja. Poor constuction with inners of exhausts. He has actually torn them open and says they are built like? ?. Yea you get the idea.

It has to be the excess heat for burning out 3 mufflers. I have been a WOT for more then a minute. I can see how 17 miles at WOT would burn out the muffler.

Not too mention uphill my friend. I should find out at what grade the skyway actually is. For why I dont know other than just my curiosity. I did recieve my new parts today and the camera is charging as I speak. I am planning to cut open stock exhaust so you guys can see. Also will take pics of cheapo can from E-bay, as well as new can in box and on bike.....
