You did not say if it was black burnt or carbon build up on stuff and wet from oil or gas or jello or what. I would not be taking it apart just for a look see and have to buy and put on a new gasket. Alleyoop

Depends where the rattle is coming from, CVT, Muffler or Motor. Get a screwdriver or make a funnel out of paper and touch the motor cvt etc.. and pinpoint where the rattle is coming from. If its the motor not good. Alleyoop

Well the carb is not adjusted right and possibley the idle as well. For the motors to start when cold the fuel and air mixture has to be pretty right on. They should start with 1 or 2 hits of the electric start. And I am talking about just a press of the start button for 1-2 seconds at a time and it should only take the first 1-2 seconds or the 2nd 1-2 seconds of pressing the start button. If you have to hold it and keeping it cranking the adjustments are off.
The rattling in the CVT could be the rollers that are to worn or something loose in the cvt, you will have to take the CVT cover off and check things out. Alleyoop

I am on THREE forums helping people out I cannot remember every ones problems. But if your electric start does not work why not fix it, it would be easy to fix? That means you are using the Kick starter which are not meant to be used regularly they are only for emergency situations if your electric start goes south. The kick starters are very poorly made and weak they will not stand up to much abuse. The electric start it could be a bad battery, starter, solenoid or bad brake switch, if its a 50cc it could be the Bendix if its a 150 it could be the starter clutch.
As for the starting problem how many turns out is the Fuel Ratio screw out? Also is the ENRICHER working? Have you tested that out? See if this works, take the ENRICHER off and cover the hole with your THUMB and try starting it, if it starts let it warm up with your thumb over the hole for at least 3 minutes before you take the thumb off the hole. thoroughly pissed off, moped cut out, on route to colllege, i have spark and fuel, this it must be compression but on a new cylliner why? i knew the mixture was a little off because in the barrel it was black and oily, so its rich but why would compression go?

Why do you say it is compression?? Also if its a new build if you do not break it in correct they will leak oil for a few miles until the rings seat and seal well. The other thing you may have installed the rings wrong. Also plug being oily and black it may not fire first thing to do is put in a new plug. Alleyoop

ok so i thought it was compression because the plug is sparking and fuel is going threw, i think it may be crank seals because they would richen it up and rings may not be seated properly as it was my virgin assembely, describe my next steps

removed top end for inspection, tiny scratches in iregular places so dont think its the cylinder, now thinking it may be crank seals, as it reved about 3000 higher with new cylinder, this would explain overly rich and loss of compression...
