Hey guys , lets take a moment to remember what Memorial Day is all about . I am no great public speaker , so I will do the best I can . If not for the past and present Vets that served/serve in the armed forces . The so bravely fought on the front lines in past and present conflicts . We need to remember if not for there sacrifice and valor . The way of life as we are living at this moment could be very different . If not for them I could be posting this in a different language or if at all . Take a moment and thank the United States Military Personal past and present . I know there are many vets on this forum . I'm unsure of who all of them are , I know two are mods here , and we have many members as well . I have seen some of the vets here not seeing eye to eye . The details of that are not the point , for a few days it would be very encouraging to see you guys get along . For one time you fought together hard with the same goal in site .
Some like to say hug a vet , thank a vet , shake a vets hand . Be as it may , my hand is out my arms are opened and thank you .
Like I stated above I don't know every veteran here but , I would like too .
John

Very nice and thoughtful of you John. I personally do not look for accolades or praise I was drafted and just happened I was picked for NAM and poop happened. Saw a lot of combat and buddies killed and maimed. I was one of the lucky ones to make it out alive. The disability I got I consider minor and am lucky compared to what others came out with and many did not make it. Thank you Bud Alleyoop

Memorial Day is a very special day for me. A day of reflection on days gone by and a reminder to all of those that have given so much, even their lives so that all can enjoy the freedoms that we all have.
One thing we all share is that we all have a family member somewhere in our family tree that has served.
My American Legion will once again be spending the day going 7 different cemeteries to honor those that have gone before us. Our local Pastor will read the names of those that have pasted, our Color Guard will fire a 21 gun salute and finally our bugler will play taps. As the former Commander I can tell you it is a very moving ceremony and does make one think.
Please take a moment this weekend to reflect and remember our past and present service men and women.
Jim USAF Msgt Retired 1971-1991
Please take a moment and watch:

I have 7 in my close family who have served, or are serving at the moment. 3 are retired career service persons including my wife who served in the first Gulf War. My thanks to all who have served in our nation's armed forces. As Dave says, "God Bless You All". DX
