I just took off the CVT cover to clean up clutch and change gear oil. Now looking on line at other bikes I dont see a gasket used on the CVT cover. But Mine has a thin gasket.
2012 Jonway 250 ytt
Putting that cover back on and trying to keep gasket in place was a royal pain! The next time I remove the cover do I need to order a new gasket or doe's it even need a gasket there?
Can I get by without a gasket? Doesn't appear that anything leaks from inside.
Any Help?

You do not really need a gasket there doesn't do much of anything it is dry in there and you already have inlets and outlets to cool the inside so it is not to keep anything out. Most of the time the thing rips anyway. Alleyoop

If you nonetheless feel better having the gasket on there, what worked for me was to run a thin bead of clear silicone all along the (thoroughly cleaned) edge of the cover, and install the gasket and let it dry for several hours. I actually put it under a desk lamp overnight to add a little heat to the drying process. I've had the cover off twice since then and the gasket stayed put.

Good answers, I taped mine on until I got the cover on, then I cut the tape away.

I just reused the gasket around the CVT cover but I took my variator fan plastic cover off and ran it no problem. I have been through mud and dirt nothing slows this down. Get more fresh air to your fan. I used a plastic see through case over mine.

A see-thru cover? Interesting. Where'd you find that?

Its a see through stator cover for a pocket bike. I bought it off ebay. I got it then drilled holes through it in the stock location. I had to get custom long screws because the stock screws were too short

Try vaseline to hold gaskets for the intake side off engine. The intake manifold (engine side) should need silicone to hold them or a thin coat of heavy engine oil.
