Bummer pain to take off. That looks like a vent system to me to relieve pressure because oil is behind there. Where do the two TUBes go to. Alleyoop

It's all one long odd shaped piece. The largest bolt goes to the bottom of the engine and the one way up top mounts into the side right beneath the seat. Two of the bolts have holes through them and I assume that's for oil passage.
I'll just have to remove more panels and my seat in order to access it a bit easier. I have to drain my new oil also. I only put water in it just to flush it if it had started (glad I didn't add the expensive anti-freeze I bought yet).

yea that is some kind of either oiling system or breather. What is it that it connects to under the seat? Well either way it has to come off to get the side plate off (BUMMER) just a lot more work. But I really believe the problem may just be that the shaft for the IDLER GEAR is not in the right place in the back of the cover. That is the only thing that I can think of. DID YOU Take the STARTER CLUTCH OFF or the whole Flywheel off or just took it off to look or what? Alleyoop

And the sad thing is..........this scooter I bought brand new out the crate and it only has 1600 miles on it. I've had to replace so many parts in less than 2 years!

I'm not too familiar with the names of all the parts (my 2nd scoot) but I only removed the cover which has the water pump on it and the stator that mounts to the inside cover. I'll send more photo's and details when I pull it back off.

Cool silvershadow, If you did not mess with the FLywheel then I think the problem is the shaft for the IDLER GEAR is not in the right place in the back of the cover. Simple fix but a pain just to get the cover off to align the Idler shaft into where it goes in on the back of the cover.
Maybe there is enough play on those tubes that you can open the cover a little out from around the top Left side and move the shaft into its place. Alleyoop

Well Alleyoop, pretty good news so far!! Yesterday I took the tubing and stator cover off and when I pulled it off, the small gear wheel feel out. It must not have been seated properly. I merely repositioned it and made sure I stabbed it with the arm coming off the inside of the cover as well as the arm with the slot which lines up with another part. Once I got them both aligned, I pushed to cover on and before I bolted it I was able to turn the variator on the opposite side. I haven't tried to start it yet because once I got the cover completely on with the tubing, hoses, and wiring, I added the new oil back in it but haven't put antifreeze in yet. I do think that mis-aligned gear was preventing it from turning over just as you said! I'm adding these pics I took and will let you know if it starts when I can get back to it (in a day or two.........been working a little O.T. on the job). Attachments:

These should give you an idea of what I was speaking of as far as the parts fitting together.......but I'm sure you already knew this. I hope all this work I did will correct the problem I had with my lights (dash, head, brake, and signal) Attachments:

That is Great news SilverShadow, I new that Idler gear was out of position for it to not turn. Good luck this time and take your time putting it all back together. Got my fingers crossed it starts up and runs good for you. Alleyoop

And thanks, SS, for going to the trouble of posting pictures. Probably old news for Alley, but us newbies benefit a lot from seeing what you're writing about. (Although I'm hoping I never, EVER have to get that deep into the guts of my scoot -- just getting the plastic off tries my patience close to the limit. ;>))

OK guys, I got the Idler gear back into position and got the scoot started!! The bomber is.......I still have NO HEADLIGHTS, NO Brake lights, and NO Dash lights! The tail light is on, the turn signals work, and the horn blows. I replaced the fuses in the fuse box with 4 new ones. Also replaced the in-line fuse going to the battery.
Any suggestions??

You're getting closer. Now that you've had her apart and we know the fuse box is getting power to some of the circuits we've got to look at the other ones. The fuse box has 3 circuits that feed off of a black wire that gets it's voltage from the battery when the key is turned on. The head and tail lights are fed through the last circuit in the fuse box and feed from the R/R when the scooter is running. If the tail lights are on with it running and the head lights are not then you've got a bad connection or broke wire because the head and tail lights feed off of the same circuit.
Hope you don't have her all back together yet, still got to find the electrical gremlins and it happens a lot when you are working on things and then you find it later. Start from the fuse box and check the wiring and the fuse box especially where the fusses plug in, many a problem has happened here.
