You really do not need a ring expander you can open them with your hands enough to slip around the piston and slide them into the groves. Just open them just enough to go on the piston. Alleyoop

I have a picture of the valves and they appear a little burnt, but I don`t know how to post the picture here. I can copy it but it won`t let me paste it here. Any ideas?

Here it is, they sure do not looke good, you can either get a new complete head or clean them up and lap them or get new valves and lap them. Alleyoop

OK I got the parts and replaced the piston and rings. I gaped the rings at .004 or as close to that as i could get, put everything back together and was real proud of myself for a while. Put it back in the Scooter and it won`t start. Is there a trick to getting them started after doing the work I did? I tried putting gas in the breather tube on the carb to no avail. Oh I replaced the coil while i was at it. How do i make it run?

As I was cleaning up after I put the motor back in the scoot I found 3 three of the guides in the corner. Don`t know from where they came but are they important to put back in? Feel pretty stupid now!
